Anna Kendrick Lands in Jason Reitman's Up in the Air
November 20, 2008
by Alex Billington
Jason Reitman's Up in the Air has just found its female lead - Anna Kendrick. You may not yet know her by name, but should be able to recognize her - she has a supporting role in Twilight this weekend and appeared as a lead in the great indie flick Rocket Science last year as well. Apparently Kendrick nailed her audition and won the highly coveted role in the film over nearly every young actress in Hollywood, including the likes of Ellen Page and Emily Blunt. She will star alongside of George Clooney in the film, which is being produced by Ivan Reitman as well. I'm pretty sure this gig is going to launch Kendrick into the spotlight.
As we first announced back in May, Up in the Air is an adaptation of Walter Kirn's book of the same name. Clooney will star as Ryan Bingham, a frequent traveler pursuing his millionth frequent flyer mile in his last week in employment as a "career transition counselor" (meaning professional firer). I'm curious how big Kendrick's role will be, considering Reitman mentioned once that, "most of the time, in a movie, it's about a guy and at the beginning he's lonely, and he thinks he has it all and he meets a girl and she changes everything… [Up in the Air] is not that movie." Either way, I'm excited to see her join this project.
We all know that Reitman is phenomenal at casting the right actor - just look at Ellen Page in Juno. I'm pretty sure we're in for a treat once we get to see Kendrick in Up in the Air. In fact, I think this whole movie might be pretty amazing, but we'll have to wait until Reitman shoots it together first. Thoughts?

Yes, this is interesting.
I watched the movie Rocket Science (in which Kendrick stars in) quite a while back, and she definitely has this strange attractive quality about her. She's a capable actor imo, I think this sounds like good news.

I thought Anna was great in Rocket Science. I don't care much for Clooney personally but it'll be interesting to see her in this role. I definitely think she is talented and someone to watch.

Is this in any shape, way or form related to that awful fishsticks paltrow movie where she played a stewardess?
