Rumor: David Fincher Directing Keanu Reeves in Chef?

Here's something for you to chew on. According to the latest issue of Production Weekly (via SlashFilm), David Fincher is attached to directed a project called Chef with Keanu Reeves set to star. Unfortunately we have no clue what the film is even about or any other information beyond that. Could it be about a serial killer or some "scheme which is extremely dark yet still slightly comical," as Peter at SlashFilm jokes. Whatever the case, something about this project sounds particularly enticing. I don't exactly know what it is, but I definitely want to find out more, and hopefully this news turn out to be true by then.
Keanu only ever mentioned the project once before in an interview, saying it was something that he was developing on his own (possibly even writing on his own) and that Fincher was eying it. Either there is something very interesting going on behind-the-scenes here at Sony (where it's being developed) or Production Weekly just got a bad tip. As I said, I'm very curious to know more. Reeves is next set to appear in The Day the Earth Stood Still, a role in which I think he is quite well suited for. And if he continues to take on more roles like that, maybe Chef will eventually see the light of day with Fincher attached, too.

I think it's funny that whenever David Finch is attached to something, people automatically hope it's about a serial killer. I guess you can't blame people for wanting another Se7en.
Personally, I think it will be a hilarious send-up of television chefs starring Keanu Reeves with an authentic cajun accent and a 6 foot tall animated singing crocodile that only he can see who helps him become a star.
Okay, not really. But see? I can make wild guesses too!

Chef is a story conceptualised and written by Keanu Reeves. He had it made into a script. His manager, Erwin Stoff, is producing it.

This sounds to me like a hilarious story about a chef who has the idea that to lovingly construct cuisine and for women to devour it with gasps of "MMMMMMMMMMM, this is heaven!" gains much sexual gratification almost as if its foreplay and will ultimatley make him some sort of sex god. AAAaah yes, bring it on. I would love to play the female lead!
