Gabriele Muccino Heading Home for Original Last Kiss Sequel

Director Gabriele Muccino will be heading home to Rome, Italy next to write and direct a sequel to his 2001 romantic drama L'Ultimo Bacio. In English, the title translates to The Last Kiss, which many will recognize as the name of the 2006 remake of Muccino's film. The sequel will be called Baciami Ancora, or Kiss Me Again in English, and will reunite the original cast. Muccino has been "stuck" in America the last few years, directing Will Smith dramas The Pursuit of Happyness and the upcoming Seven Pounds. "Gabriele had been mulling a Bacio sequel for a long time, but until now his American adventure forced him to keep it on the back burner." Shooting will start in spring next year for a 2010 release.
In L'Ultimo Bacio, 29-year-old Carlo's life is thrown into a tailspin when his longtime girlfriend announces she's pregnant. But right at the wrong time, Carlo meets an 18-year-old beauty who has a crush on him. Both Carlo and his three friends struggle with the idea of growing up and becoming adults. In the sequel, the same characters will return as hardened adults pushing 50 struggling with even more relationship problems. I don't think it's right to translate feelings from Zach Braff's The Last Kiss to this, because I'm not sure that remake captured the humanity the way Muccino's original film does. I'm personally excited to see both of these (original and sequel), since I haven't seen either one yet (though I did see the remake).

I enjoyed the remake, hell I didn't even know it was a remake…but I'll definitely have to check out the original now.

I had no idea that The Last Kiss was a remake! And I loved that movie so much. Now, I'm compelled to find a copy of the original. Despite being an excellent movie, Braff's version lacked the weight, I suppose that comes with the emotion of a plot like this. I'm definitely excited for the original and the sequel!

I'm Italian and the original movie was one of my favourites..since the cast is gonna be the same, i'm really looking forward for this!
