Rumor: Scott Frank Directing New Planet of the Apes Movie?

A lot has been happening with Planet of the Apes over the last few weeks. Maybe it's the sales number associated with the new Blu-Ray box set or maybe it's newfound interest due to the Apes: Genesis news, but either way, it looks like Fox is actually trying to bring this franchise back from the dead. A few days ago we confirmed that they're developing the script and now today we receive an update on the project from Production Weekly (via Cinema Blend). The production mag claims that Scott Frank, of only The Lookout, is directing the new Planet of the Apes prequel / reboot / remake that is titled simply Caesar.
Production Weekly has been increasingly inaccurate recently, so we can't say whether this is completely true or not. Scott Frank isn't a bad director by any means, but I'm curious whether Fox really trusts him enough to hand over the reigns to a franchise that they hope to bring back from the dead to a rather inexperienced director. The Lookout was a solid film and I guess enough to give me hope that he could do a good job with a script about "the origins of how the Apes took over Earth." This franchise is gaining more momentum by the day - is Scott Frank really the right one to revive it from the dead? Thoughts?

I freakin' loved "The Lookout"; one of my favorite films of last year. If this is half as good as that, I'll check it out.

he is a good director and the movie could turn out to be decent but man fox is gonna give this guy a lot of hard time. At the end he will finish the movie but never ever work with them OR maybe fox has changed their rules and are serious about making good movies.
