Ray Stevenson Joins the Hughes Brother's Book of Eli
December 2, 2008
by Alex Billington
Actor Ray Stevenson, who stars as Frank Castle this Friday in Punisher: War Zone, has joined the already impressive cast of the Hughes Brother's Book of Eli. You may recognize the name of this movie because this isn't the first time we've mentioned it, as a teaser poster showed up at the AFM a few weeks back. Stevenson will star alongside of Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis in this post-apocalyptic western, in which a lone man fights his way across America in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind. Stevenson will play an enforcer sent to kill Eli.
Although he showed up in King Arthur, Stevenson's first big screen appearance and break out role will be Punisher this weekend, even if it does flop. The whole time I was watching it, I couldn't help but wonder where else I'd seen Stevenson and/or where we'd see him next. In addition to Book of Eli, he's also cast in Cirque du Freak and probably a few other projects we don't know about. He actually gives a fairly solid performance in Punisher: War Zone, so I'm glad to see him already moving onwards and upwards. As for Book of Eli, I've still got high hopes that it'll be a kick ass movie. Shooting starts in January.

Titus Pullo!!!
this movie sounds like a more action packed "The Postman", not sure if that's good thing or a bad thing.

Hell yeah Titus Pullo. Rome is a great show and he is the best character by far.
Punisher looks terrible but I don't fault him.

Awesome! Stevensen is a bad ass! If you haven't seen HBOs Rome series watch it and you'll know how good this guy is. Mila Kunis is in it? Thats kinda weird, not that I don't like her or think shes not hot but she shines more in movies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall then Max Payne or something more "serious", we'll have to see I guess.

I'm glad that that actors can still move on up even if there in no-so-great/bad movies.

I was at the premiere and after party last night for Punisher War Zone. It's going to be a hit and Ray deserves to be working with "the quality" in The Book of Eli.
Ray playing a dark character.
Ray on a horse.
What could be sweeter?

The Book of Eli, is that Eli Roth's 10th Saw film script? Is that really what can save mankind?
