Three More Projects for Tom Cruise and Writer Christopher McQuarrie

I might argue that one of the best parts of Valkyrie is its writing, from Usual Suspects screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie. No, he hasn't lost his touch, and I love his intricate writing style. Thus I'm excited to report that McQuarrie and Tom Cruise are planning three more projects together. First up is The Champions, the Guillermo del Toro produced project, which McQuarrie is writing. Second is Flying Tigers, a script about a volunteer fighter squadron in WWII, that McQuarrie is writing with Mason Alley. And last is The Tourist, an English language remake of the French film Anthony Zimmer.
All three of these projects might eventually star Tom Cruise. In fact, The Tourist already has Cruise and Charlize Theron attached, with McQuarrie rewriting the first script put together by Julian Fellowes. The story in The Tourist is about an Interpol agent who uses an American tourist in an attempt to flush out an elusive criminal with whom she once had an affair. Neither Flying Tigers or The Champions have Cruise formally attached, however they're being eyed as projects for him coming up after The Tourist. The actual status of all of these is unknown, although I'm sure we'll hear a lot more after Valkyrie hit theaters.
The one I'm probably most excited about is The Champions, a project we've written about numerous times beforehand due to Guillermo del Toro's involvement. It's based on a British TV series about a team of secret government agents who are rescued from a Himalayan plane crash by an advanced civilization and given superhuman abilities. I've been excited to see it come together for a while, but with Cruise potentially starring, it has definitely been kicked up another notch. All of these honestly sound like great projects and I'll be anxious to hear more as they move forward. Which one interests you the most?

McQuarrie's writing style impresses me and it's nice to see him getting some attention.
