Clive Owen Joins Colombian Cartel Project Cartagena

A little bit of last minute casting news. Clive Owen has joined a project called Cartagena being produced by Marc Butan and Nick Wechsler for 2929 Productions. The film is about an undercover agent who gets caught in a complex plot and must elude Colombian drug dealers and international agents if he hopes to survive. The project is named for a city on Colombia's northern coast that has a colorful history featuring wars, robust economic activity and tourist development. Editor and screenwriter Michael Ross, who wrote Turistas and the upcoming Jar City remake, is writing the screenplay for Cartagena.
Columbia is becoming a key location for upcoming projects, including at least Joe Carnahan's Killing Pablo and Antoine Fuqua's Escobar. As for Clive Owen, I'm glad to hear he's still getting high profile projects like this, despite he's been starring in movies that turn out to be box office duds (Children of Men, Shoot 'Em Up, Elizabeth: The Golden Age). Will films like The International, Duplicity, and Cartagena bring him back into the spotlight? I hope so, because I'm still a Clive Owen supporter, even if his films don't make any money. I think he's still a great actor and a badass all rolled into one, so bring on more Clive Owen!

duds or not, if this is as good as "children of men" or "E: the golden age" i'll be happy.

yea I don't get why no one sees his movies, they are all pretty good and he is always terrific in them.. he is one of my favorite actors. You guys should see I'll Sleep When I'm Dead. he is great in that and its a pretty unknown film.

Children of Men was an awesome movie, there is a scene towards the end of the movie thats like 6 minutes long, its one of the best scenes I have ever seen

I loved Shoot Em' Up, there is no actor in movies today more badass than Clive Owen, that's just my kind of movie (yes I have a penchant for unintelligent action-fests)
