Original Tron Actor Bruce Boxleitner Returning for Tr2n!

Our friends at ComingSoon have learned today that Bruce Boxleitner, who played Tron in the original Tron, will return for Tr2n. Details on his role were not revealed, except that he is currently shooting and also joins fellow cast members Jeff Bridges, Olivia Wilde, and Beau Garrett in the "next chapter" of the Tron adventure. Boxleitner, now 58 years old, last appeared on a few episodes of "Chuck" and "Heroes", although his acting career hasn't exactly been illustrious since kicking some computer ass back in 1982. His return will certainly be very welcome, as I probably remember Boxleitner more than Bridges.
I've said it before, but the buzz that Tr2n is getting is quite tremendous, almost on par with James Cameron's Avatar, and yet this is still more than two years out. Boxleitner's return only means more good things for the sequel, especially because it sounds like Disney and director Joseph Kosinski aren't going to try and turn it into the kind of cheesy, family-friendly film that it's not. I know we don't know much about the story, but I'm thrilled to know that both Tron and Flynn are already back. I definitely can't wait to see what Kosinski is cooking up - I've got a feeling we're in for another groundbreaking movie!

I gotta say that this isn't on par with Cameron's Avatar in my mind. It's going to be another family fun Disney movie, but I doubt it will be anything groundbreaking. Also, I thought they showed footage at comic con last year so I assumed the project was nearing completion (or at least in post production), but now you say it's two years away still…Why so long? Is there some kind of new technique they're perfecting in post that takes two years? Also, is this planned to be partially 3D?
So Alex, why do you think this will be so revolutionary for Disney? I think they should stick to mooching off of Pixar…

C'mon, Boxleitner has been great - Babylon 5 is the best sci-fi show ever (if not the best show ever). Bab-5 is the reason why TV is better than movies for the most part, these days. Without B5, there wouldn't have ever been Alias or Lost.
Bab-5 was the first "one long arc" U.S. television show planned in advance, and the first shot for widescreen 16:9. Boxleitner was the star. He gets credit for being the lead on one of the most innovative shows of all time.
I was hoping when he was on Chuck that he'd see the "Tron" posted in Chuck's room, but for some reason, they changed the poster to be "Dune."

This is awesome news! I loved the first Tron movie and this one is looking better and better.
As for the "although his acting career hasn't exactly been illustrious" comment…that's bullshit (as noted by several previous posts).
And the film vs. tv response was a failed attempt to cover your ass, in my opinion.
You better retract your statement, B5 fans are not the people you wanna piss off, lol.
