A Christmas Story's Ralphie Making His Directorial Debut With Couples Retreat

Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn in Swingers

How's this for a change of pace? Peter Billingsley, who played Ralphie in A Christmas Story, will be making his directorial debut with a film called Couples Retreat. But that's not all, because Jon Favreau, who you know as the director of Iron Man, will be starring in it as well. Talk about a flip-fop of roles! Favreau actually wrote the script and will be starring with his good friend Vince Vaughn, along with Jason Bateman and Faizon Love as well. Since that "defining" role in 1983, Billingsley has gone on to produce most of Favreau's films and work as a second-unit director, and is now making his directorial debut after directing a short titled The Sacred Fire from 1994. This sounds like one hell of a good comedy.

Couples Retreat follows four couples who go to a tropical island resort. While one couple is there to work on their marriage, the others are there to play, but they all soon discover that participation in the resort's couples therapy is not optional. The idea for the film was originally devised by Vince Vaughn before being handed off to Jon Favreau to script. This marks the first time since Swingers in 1996 that both Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn have starred together. And considering Billingsley, who is also very good friends with Vaughn, is set to direct, this is probably going to be as classic of a comedy as we're all hoping. We know who the four guys are in this, now I just want to know who will be playing their female counterparts?!

Hey Alex This is not the first time Favreau and Vaughn have starred together since Swingers. They also did an awesome little film called 'MADE' that you have to see because you obviously haven't seen it. Common man! I thought you were the movie guy?

Being a movie fan doesn't mean you've seen every damn movie that's come down the pike! That said, "Made" was pretty good and shouldn't have been missed. Although it's not hard to see why someone might have ignored and forgotten about a film starring Puff Daddy. haha 😛 I won't forgive Alex for not seeing John Woo's early work though. This "Couples Retreat" thing sounds like the standard romcom crap Vince Vaughn has been doing ever since he made it big. BOOOO!! in advance! The female leads: Kate Hudson, Jennifer Anniston, Brittany Murphy, Alicia Silverstone. Will Not Watch.

Uhhh...how did this guy get his job? "Made"? "The Break Up"? A little trip down IMDB lane would've made this article, well, not ridiculous.
