Soul Men Trailer

The first trailer for the comedy Soul Men has hit and it's almost sad to watch, considering two of the film's prominent cast members passed away quite recently. The story doesn't help lighten the mood either: in honor of their recently deceased band leader, two estranged soul-singing legends (played by Bernie Mac and Samuel Jackson) decide to put on a reunion performance at the Apollo Theater. Unfortunately this trailer looks terrible, but maybe that's because it's not my type of humor. This has definitely gained buzz by being Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes' last big film together. So without any further ado, take a look below.

Soul Men is directed by Malcolm D. Lee, of Undercover Brother and Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins previously. The screenplay was penned by writing team Robert Ramsey and Matthew Stone, of Life, Intolerable Cruelty, and Man of the House previously. The Weinstein Company is releasing Soul Men in theaters everywhere on November 7th later this year.

Death was supposed to hit Sam as well but he scared it away.

This looks funny as hell..though it is sad considering Bernie Mac and Isaac Hayes so recently died...but I will definitely watch it.
  • Pull a Heath Ledger and make a billion dollars internationally!

    I'd still bang Stifler's mom

    This looks terrible.

this looks pretty funny without the fact that its 'bernie and isaacs last movie'. i'd go see it
  • That looks pretty funny. I'm guessing it's probably going to be a mess though.

looks alright. anyway the james cameron avatar trailer is on
  • Looks OK. Looks like a flop, but will def. be a hit b/c of Hayes and Mac sadly. The thing with Coolidge was funny though.

I kind of enjoyed the trailer. Would get it on DVD.
  • Looks very standard, very un-ground breaking. It won't unseat Tropic Thunder as the funniest film of the year, but it looks 10 times funnier than the "Role Models" film with Stiffler and Paul Rudd.

looks funny im going to see it
  • Looks pretty standard, actually, but I really like Bernie and Sam's chemistry. Will watch, definitely. And am I the only who also noticed (or at least I think) that that's Don LaFontaine's voice in the trailer? Bernie, Isaac, Don... Geez, Sam, whatchado, stare the Reaper in the face and say "You ain't talkin' me out of this, muddafucka"?
  • Ian MacLatchie
I was going to comment on Don LaFontaine ebing dead too. Grim indeed. Maybe Samuel L. Jackson is the Grim Reaper... I couldn't stop think Soul = Blues | Men = Brothers. The band Elwood! The band!!! I.
