Kevin Smith's Zack and Miri Kicking Off Fantastic Fest!

If you've never heard of Fantastic Fest, now is the time to get acquainted with it. As part of our whirlwind film festival tour starting later this week, Peter of SlashFilm and I are heading off an an adventure to the Telluride Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival, and finally Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas. It's described as "a festival featuring the best in new science-fiction, fantasy, horror, animation, crime, Asian, and all around badass cinema." It will be my first time ever attending, but considering I became a huge fan of the Alamo Drafthouse when I went to SXSW earlier this year, I've been dying to get out back there again. And officially announced today - Kevin Smith will be kicking it all off with Zack and Miri Make a Porno!

From the official blog and website for Fantastic Fest (located at blog.fantasticfest.com), details about Kevin Smith's apperance has been posted. Zack and Miri Make a Porno will kick off the the fest as the 2008 Opening Night Gala Film. Kevin Smith himself will be there in person to introduce the screening and answer questions afterwards. It will play at the historic Paramount Theater in Austin on Thursday, September 18th and will feature the "Air Sex World Championships" at the afterparty as well. There is probably not a more perfect venue to see the US premiere of Kevin Smith's latest films, so suggest you check out the fest if you're interested - FantasticFest.com.
