McG Speaks! Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins Official Blog and Concept Art
by Alex Billington
May 23, 2008
Like Zack Snyder's Watchmen blog, Warner Brothers and McG have officially launched the production blog for Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins right here. As part of the first post, director McG shares with fans the first concept art photo from the film as well as speaks about his own interest in the project. I've already said that I feel like this is going to be an awesome movie and am not as concerned as others, and now reading what McG has to say, I'm fully confident in him. Not only is he a fan, but he mentions that he's "spent time with James Cameron, spoken to Arnold Schwarzenegger, gone over the story with Jonah Nolan, and enlisted Stan Winston." Now are you getting excited for Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins? Need more? Check out this new concept art photo below.

McG says that "it's my full intention to deliver a film that lives up to the previous three installments." He throws out a few teasers regarding what we can expect to see with the designs and the look. "Everything we're shooting is designed to be tactile and real, you'll be seeing a whole set of inspired designs you've never seen before, and best of all you'll finally get to see some of the post-judgment day future that was only hinted at in the previous movies." Sounds great to me! And lastly, McG spends a few minutes talking about how perfect the cast is to him.
"John Connor will be pushed to the brink. And for me, Christian Bale embodies Connor's strength and tenacity perfectly. And after visiting Sam Worthington on the set of Avatar, I know he's perfect for his role."
"As you know, Anton Yelchin is playing Kyle Reese, and his prep has been unbelievable. The guy's been watching all three Terminators incessantly and he's definitely going to capture the essence of the character Michael Biehn created in Cameron's first film."
I may be one of the few currently who believes in this movie, but I'll stand my ground. I really think Halcyon has brought together the perfect assembly of creative minds to restart the Terminator franchise in the best way. Despite it'll be PG-13, I still think it will kick ass. It doesn't have to be R to be enjoyed and still live up to the previous three. In fact, I think that choice is what will actually guarantee that it'll be great. Terminator 3 wasn't that amazing just because they threw in as much blatant violence as possible to push it to the R rating. Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins is actually being finely crafted to still kick plenty of ass while being PG-13.
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, directed by McG of Charlie's Angels and We Are Marshall, will arrive in theaters next summer on May 22nd, 2009. Stay tuned for more!
