WORTH WATCHING
New Wall-E Featurette - Pixar Goes Space Age
by Alex Billington
June 14, 2008
Although I've actually seen Wall-E, I can't yet talk about how amazing it was. Instead, I'll continue to share with all of you the best featurettes and videos to continue to get you in the mood for this wonderful Pixar film. This latest featurette talks about the visuals and cinematography. If you've wondered why the camera work in Wall-E looks so amazing, this featurette answers that question. Oscar nominated cinematographer Roger Deakins actually worked on the film as a visual consultant. Deakins was responsible for the great cinematography in Assassination of Jesse James, No Country for Old Men, and In the Valley of Elah last year, for which he was nominated for two Academy Awards. Impressed yet?
After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, WALL-E discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. EVE comes to realize that WALL-E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet's future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home). Meanwhile, WALL-E chases EVE across the galaxy and sets into motion one of the most exciting and imaginative comedy adventures ever brought to the big screen.
Wall-E is both written and directed by Pixar's own Andrew Stanton, one of the first animators hired at the studio, who wrote and directed 1998's A Bug's Life and 2003's Finding Nemo. This is Pixar's tenth feature film. Wall-E lands in theaters everywhere this summer on June 27th - see you in theaters!
