    I imagine it's for a sense of community? I'm not exactly sure. I've waited in a few lines for movies like the prequels and Lord of the Rings, but I've never camped out anywhere.

    I think it makes the event more....eventful. Like when I wait in line for a video game, which is the only thing I wait for, It makes it more memorable and exciting and the energy that is there makes it better. Just like midnight release movies the crowd is just way more into it than normal crowds, its a great time to nerd out. You should try it.

    Love the background shot, Tom. Ever wonder why people feel a need to wait in a line overnight for the latest DVD or video game, besides to just be one of the first to have a copy?

    That's a good point #3. I haven't done the Best Buy overnight campout thing, but I have waited in line many times for midnight movie premieres at the local cineplex just for the sheer anticipation and excitement of that specific movie, so that I could understand.
