UFC's Randy Couture Also Joins Stallone's The Expendables
The cast for Sylvester Stallone's next big action project, titled The Expendables, already features Stallone himself, Jason Statham, Jet Li, and Dolph Lundgren, but the script calls for a total of five mercenaries, so who is this fifth? None other than UFC Heavyweight Champion Randy Couture, as Ain't It Cool News reports today. Apparently Stallone wants to give him "an excellent boost towards big screen action stardom," considering his last role was the direct-to-DVD Scorpion King 2, a big pile of shit if you ask me. This rounds out the cast of mercs and puts the project on track to start shooting in March in Brazil.
The Expendables will follow a team of "expendable" mercenaries on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator. The names of the five mercenaries are Hale Caesar, Kong Kao, Christmas, Barney Ross, and Gunnar. In addition to the casting scoop, Stallone revealed to AICN that Jet Li would be fighting Dolph Lundgren at one point in the movie. Now that we know the complete cast, I've got to say, I'm still incredibly excited for this, just to see an original story starring five certified cinematic badasses. Just think about Rambo and imagine if there were five Rambos, not just one, and you might get the idea. Excited?

Only 2 whites: Stallone & Statham. Dolph is Swedish and Li is Chinese. I don't count Scandanavians as white.

There is only one white man, Stallone is Itallian, we are not white. If you go to Italy and look around, the first thought in your head isn't "wow that is a lot of white people".

Wow. With a character name like "Hale Caesar" (Hail! Caesar!) I really don't hold much hope for this movie. It might make it to my Netflix list. God, it's hard to remember that this is the Sylvester Stallone that wrote and starred in the first "Rocky" movie, which was so wonderful on so many levels. The script, the music, the direction, the acting. I really wish Sly would move back in that direction. Do something wonderful, a great indie, character driven film, for $5-$10 million budget. I know he's smart, insightful, and very capable. His interview on The Actors Studio blew me out of the water, as it totally changed my opinion of him.

jesse is dumb who cares if there white what u dont like white people u ignorant shit. besides that fool this movie sounds good....i mean dolph? were has he been? after half a dozen no budget low budget spluges it will be good to see him in a real production. jet li= trash, would be sweet if he got tony jaa that dude is the best in martial arts period. stratham loves himself way to much in my eyes, and randy? what a douche. just cut the cast to sly and dolph and this film will do much better except to u yuppie dickridders

It baffels me that movies like this get greenlights everyday while dozens... dozens of talented filmmakers are left at the way side... What world are we living in that we'd PAY to see Sly and co. kill South Americans for an hour and a half. I'm sorry but anyone who enjoys seeing nameless faces being killed for 90 minutes is no pal of mine.

I think it's a great idea, Stallone has out done himself with this project. I can't wait for it to come out. Hopefully this won't be the last time we see this great of stars in the same movie.
