What the Hell is Aladygma?

I have to admit, I wanted to post something on this topic because I'm a bit perplexed. Peter over at SlashFilm mentioned last month that Aladygma might be the codename for a Cloverfield sequel, or a film of equal, cryptic viral proportions. Reading through the interwebs, I've found a bit of information. Now, I realize I might just be giving posers and idiots coverage of their stupid pranks or BS. I certainly don't want to, but this might be an opportunity to rule some things out and cut out the garbage for good. Let's dig in and try to figure out what's what, shall we?

On its surface, there doesn't seem to be much here connecting Cloverfield to this property. However, this is what you can find there. If you go to this site, not only does it plainly have 00 | 11 | 22 | 88 square and center, but if you highlight the page (ctrl + a), you're presented with a number of white spaces. Once clicked, they lead you to six screens that contain the following:
1) The upper left corner has the: "thomas ist ein lügne" spelled backwards. Is that German? And who the hell is Thomas?
2) A colored x-ray of a human neck and skull
3) A stylized graphic of a scared girl peaking around a door with 211 written on it
4) A graphic of a New York Subway map with the Chambers St. station circled and a handwritten "102 North End Ave"; behind the map seems to be a newspaper from September 12, 2001. WTF?
5) Content is replaced by "student thomas | room 211" and "211 | 2008"
6) And finally, an image of the Pioneer Plague that was sent into space back in the '70s, which contains rudimentary details about the human race in case extraterrestrials encountered it; if you stay on that screen a biohazard symbol appears with an arrow pointing to it, and then what looks like an infant alien from the alien series appears. This is probably the most confounding and descriptive detail thus far. If you click the alien image, it takes you back to #2.

*Interesting facts on this site so far:
1) aladygma almost directly spelled backwards is amygdala, which is a region of the brain that controls a variety of things, including fear.
2) if you rearrange the numerals on the homepage of the site, you get 1-18-2008: 2. Does that mean Cloverfield 2? (It also renders any number of other combinations, including 12-18-2008 or 11-28-2008.)

I can't recall how I got to this site, but it does sort of track with aladygma.com, especially since the title bar of the site says a.l.a.d.y.g.m.a. The site features a video that moves through a variety of images including nuclear bomb tests, the popular alien autopsy video from the '90s, and a shuttle launch. At the end, the text "follow the white spaces" appears, along with "00 | 11 | 28 | 88." They're similar numbers and format, but they're not exactly the same that's on aladygma.com. Also, if you look at the source code, there are explicit Cloverfield references there. What gives? If I had to bet, this isn't truly apart of aladygma.com.

This site uses a similar 'ctrl+a' functionality to reveal more information, and primarily depicts a still frame of a wide-eyed dude. If you click the hidden box, up comes a number of symbols that don't mean anything right now. The guy's face maps a video on YouTube videos that don't seem very Cloverfield-like. It's hand-held video and meant to be creepy, sure, but it seems to deal more with ghosts. If I had to guess, this site is NOT in league with aladygma.com, despite the video being titled the same.

The vid was added just a couple of days ago and definitely mirrors the initial look of Cloverfield. (It's almost too similar.) The clip is also in German, I think, which tracks back to "thomas ist ein lügne" on aladygma.com. Watch it here.

Any thoughts on what the hell Aladygma might be?

The website was registered by a company called PSI-USA, who registers websites for clients so that the clients' info doesn't become public. I am a member of PSI which allows me to look up info on other PSI members, and this website turned up NOT ALLOWED. So this very well could be a legit project.

I was wondering if this topic would ever make FS.net. I've been following it pretty closely, including reading all of the sporadic blogs that have been popping up. I'm not really SURE it's an Abrams thing. It very well COULD be, but I feel like just because something viral pops up, it shouldn't be directly pinned to him. Especially considering how popular viral marketing is going be since the Cloverfield and The Dark Knight campaigns. Either way, I'm curious to see what it ends up being. The story that's been popping up--fabricated or real--seems to be pretty interesting. Glad to see you're onto it. --IK

The symbols in the Youtube film are at two places. First in the middle of the screen, and then again, the same signs at the left top of the screen. It are some of alien sort of signs.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with the poster who claimed the runes said April, mainly because I've come up with something much more interesting by consulting a symbol dictionary (http://www.symbols.com/). Screencap of the symbols (at 0:27, when they're larger): http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/5104/symbolsso1.jpg The first symbol (16:4 in the dictionary) refers to the Norse god Loki, while the second symbol (4:37) symbolizes secret, mystery, or initiation. The third symbol seems to refer to a "raid, riding or journey" (52:5). The last symbol (16:1) refers to water, or the sea. So we have a secret surrounding Loki that involves a journey. Or maybe we have a secret journey to Loki. Either way, I think the runes as individual symbols, rather than a single word, makes for more interesting discussion.

i did a search on IMDB and nothing came up for the title aladygma, but then I went to JJ Abrams page and this is what he is working on currently in his number one spot: 1. Untitled J.J. ANYBODY NOTICE THIS? In the video that seems to resemble cloverfield cuts to a shot of some vacation where the internet site K-D.com can be seen. After visiting the site it happens to be in German as well about promoting vacations. (wish i could remember more German from high school but it all left me). If you look around this telephone number can be seen 02 21 / 20 88 there is a 1 missing but it resembles the 00/11/22/88. Personally i dont think this or Aladygma has anything to do with cloverfield. Its too soon after cloverfields release to already be in production, even if its just for viral campaign. Things were already coming out on Aladygma when JJ said that there were only ideas being thrown around for cloverfield 2. Plus JJ has his hands full with the new star treck.

I'm confused with the newspaper clip and the map on top. Is it possible for this to be completely off, and it really is a movie about the day after 9/11, with somekind of a twist? Unlikely, yes, so I hope it is Cloverfield 2. Other wise it might not even be JJ and it's just for another Japanese movie remake.

On the youtube page, one of the first comments is "Dieses ist es. Dieses ist das Ende. Zuerst nimmt es den Ozean dann Amerika, jetzt es sucht die Welt in Angriff." Which translates into "This is it. This is the end. First it takes the ocean then to America, now it looks for the world in attack." One of the less coherent comments says "Noch jemand, der auf dieser Welle mitschwimmen will? Last posts are very ARG and a hidden message in the page links to http://backlayer.net/term . Going to plain backlayer.net shows up a fictious? company or institution for "alternative biochemistry research" (!!) I think that none of this sites has anything to do with Cloverfield... or maybe is some kind of Clovey spin-off... But I think it's just another viral or ARG for a film to be announced. If you go to this site (http://backlayer.net/term/) You can type in "thomas" it will say "missing" I typed in 00112288 the program cam up with "18-22 2008 ISSI" I have looked up ISSI, and the only thing i could find was International Space Science Institute . I am still on the same trail, i recieved both thoes emails.........I don't know how to further this, some people on other websites are saying that aladygma is a movie viral while back layer is an ARG. I know the email says they are not connected, but why soooo many connections.......00112288, thomas, anomaly. They are def. one of the same as far as i can tell. If it's the same day, that's interesting. Also, even before people started saying things to him about the connection between himself and the viral, he didn't show a single picture of himself or his girlfriend. And if he wanted to emphasize how tired he was in the 5 a.m. video, or how excited he was in the "going to the airport" video, why not turn the camera on himself? And why was he barely talking to his friends in the car? It's just not normal... But still, there's no way of knowing what's bunk and what's part of the puzzle.

Don't know if you've seen this too: http://ftwspace.blog.co.uk/ I'm actually really enjoying this. Poking around at this intricate network of viral advertising or what not is actually a pretty fun way to waist an hour or two. I know the timing's off, but bioengineering (the Black Layer, images of the skull and the similarity in the word to amygdala) and the explosion in the German video kind of have connections to Akira. I know they haven't even started filming the real version of that, but I figured I'd mention it.

I just really have a feeling that quarantine has something to do with this Aladygma. I just think because in the trailer we saw it looks alot like something mental and physical is destroying them but what affected the guy in the youtube video was only the beginning like a first stage of the disease. i dont know just going off in different idea paths because no one seems to agree on what it is.

Two things I have found interesting are: 1. In the image with the Greek Letters which are Kappa and Phi, Kappa is the 10th letter in the Greek alphabet and Phi is the 21st letter. hmm.. Also the Phi is also recognized as The Golden Mean The ratio generally expressed as 1 : 1.618, which leads me to a connection of another image of the tow human figures(sketches) that look similar to Leonardo Da Vinci's drawings that use the Golden Mean coindidense I don't know. 2. The Google Map: the little blue line that has the tag Awaken leads to the place Svalbard which is the location of the Global Seed Vault. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Svalbard_Global_Seed_Vault. Something to do with doomsday? Not sure what is all means or how it fits in.

When I translated the Thomas line in babel fish, it came up with Thomas is more Lugner. Which doesnt make any sense. So I put lugner in on google and found this website that looks along the same lines of all the other sites. And its all in german so I translated the top piece and it says "we are now also in it and buried you on this website" The first bullet point translates to "This side was de-energised recently and is in the structure" with the in the structure part underlined in red. The last bullet point doesnt really make any sense "they konnen us reach under" and then it has an email address. Did anyone else find this site? http://www.lugner.net I put konnen in on google and found a bunch of sites that are all in german. I dont know if I just completely found somthing unrelated or maybe something that goes with the movie.

" If you use CTRL + A or the TAB key to select different items on the page there is an invisible yet clickable box, that when clicked loads a picture of a man, with a ghostly face visible in the upper left corner. On many of these websites it seems a small symbol is found in one of the corners, that looks like a snail with a line through it with some more squiggly lines at the bottom. this symbol is now also in the upper-left hand corner of the slusho.jp site.

There are many single pictures you can't see unless you view it slide by slide. Several involve a circus, and an elephant. Recall how we all thought the Cloverfield monster looked like an angry elephant? I think the release date is November 28, 2008. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving. Thoughts, anyone?

After watching it frame by frame again, one can see what looks like a monster in the womb (ultrasound type picture). I read somewhere, and verified, that if you move your cursor to the right outside of the box, and right-click to source you will see a cloverfield reference. Ah, well it's fun to play along.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this or looked into it, or maybe its nothing, but it seems interesting that all of the numbers 00 11 22 88 could be considered in terms of a binary sequence. That is, taken individually they are all base two. It's been said that any contact and communication with aliens would start at a binary level, and from there develop.

I dunno if this helps or not, but "send more money" (from the thenightshot.com) is an anagram of "so modern enemy", and if you take all the separate letters D E M N O R S Y, they make up the word "syndrome". Plus, you can also use some of them to spell "demon" or "demons". Also "thomas ist ein lügner" is an anagram of "mortal sin seething" (although if you miss the r out like I did when I first tried this you get "I'm honest genitals" >.>) This could of course all be a load of crap, anagrams often are. Still, it's better than nothing.

Check out http://www.thenightshot.com again. It's asking you to "solve the mystery" and to view the site in English or in Spanish. Once you make your selection you're taken to a long page (you have to scroll down) with a black box with a 'Guess' button beneath it. If you do the ctrl-a trick, you see the words "find me" and then the following riddle: "I never was, am always to be, None ever saw me, nor ever will, And yet I am the confidence of all Who live and breathe on this terrestrial ball." Also, a small blue box appears. If you click on it it reveals five symbols. These resemble the cards that people use to test psychics (watch the first 10 minutes of 'Ghostbusters' if you need a pop-culture reference). At the very bottom there seems to be a very blurry picture taken with a low-light filter. It looks to be a hallway or a cellar. If I had to guess it's either about God or some sort of super-human psychic that controls the entire world. Or maybe it's something completely different. All I know is if this is for that FOX show "Fringe" I'll be sadly disappointed. All this viral madness just for a show that might not make it past its first season.

if the 'satellite crash" or whatever it was at the end of cloverfield is indeed a satellite crash then my take on this aladygma website is this: One of the white spaces on the site gives you an image of a man and a woman and all sorts of symbols. this is a plaque placed on the pioneer and voyager probes sent into space in the 70's to attempt to teach other beings of our whereabouts and who we are as earthlings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pioneer_plaque my interpretation is that some thing found the satellite and sent it back to earth. hence the final scene in cloverfield which led to the monster assault. I think that is how this film could be linked to cloverfield. If not related to Cloverfield, i would say that this website is related to a movie where alien contact has occured, hence the pioneer plaque image. As for all the other images/audio/video, im still quite baffled. I showed it to my 12 year old son last night, and his initial response was that it was alien related and then that it was kinda freaking him out.

I Found something. Aladygma is supposed to mean "bad robot" right? Well, I recall looking up Cloverfield at my local library. And When I saw the movie rental on the computer, I remember seeing "bad robot" in the movie description.
