Rian Johnson's Festival of Fakery at the New Beverly!

Oh, how I love living in Los Angeles! It's indie movie theaters like the New Beverly Cinema that make me so happy to live here. The latest filmmaker-driven film festival to take over the New Beverly is Rian Johnson's Festival of Fakery, kicking off on February 18th. The fest starts with a back-to-back double feature of The Brothers Bloom, Johnson's newest film, and Frank Oz's Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Following those two is a selection of 8 more of the finest con man films ever made. If you live in or around Los Angeles, this is a festival you don't want to miss! I know I'll be attending a few of these screenings.
Here's the complete Festival of Fakery schedule straight from the New Beverly's calendar. If you're looking for more information, head over to their MySpace page. First show starts at 7:30PM every night.
February 18th - 19th:
The Brothers Bloom (2008) & Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (1988)
February 20th - 21st:
House of Games (1987) & The Spanish Prisoner (1997)
February 22nd - 23rd:
The Sting (1973) & The Man Who Would Be King (1975)
February 25th - 26th:
F for Fake (1974) & 8 1/2 (1963)
February 27th - 28th:
The Lady Eve (1941) & The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988)
First things first, The Brothers Bloom is easily one of my very favorite films of 2008. I've seen it twice already (at various film festivals), even though Summit delayed its release until May this summer. So if you want to see it very early with Rian Johnson himself in attendance, be there on the 18th! It's the perfect way to kick off a con fest like this as well, just because it's such a perfect con movie itself. There's a lot of great movies in this line-up that I'm excited to see for the first time. Are there any good con man movies that he's left out? Or is this really one of the best selection of con movies out there? See you at the New Beverly!

I will definitely go to at least one of these screenings. I went to the Eli Roth and Joe Dante festivals, and also the screening Edgar Wright held on Halloween (I even won the costume contest, heh). I love the New Beverly - it's a great place for film geeks.
