Olivia Wilde Briefly Talks About Working on Tron 2.0

Damn, she's so gorgeous! In addition to Beau Garrett, Olivia Wilde is one of the few actresses officially cast in Tr2n aka Tron 2.0. While Jeff Bridges previously spoke about his involvement, Wilde is the first person to actually talk openly about working on the film and its scale. She spoke with SciFi recently and while she wouldn't reveal much at all (she couldn't even say her character's name), she did talk vehemently about the technology in the film and specifically about director Joseph Kosinski's sets, saying that they're building a large number of actual sets. I know you want to hear what she has to say, so read on!
"The technological advances have, of course, been enormous, and the effects that we have access to have been so revolutionary," Wilde told SciFi. "And I think that it's really going to please people that it's going to be just as kind of huge and shocking and just as much of a new movie-watching experience as the first one was." As much as I love hearing her talk about Tron 2.0, I know I'm already expecting something that groundbreaking, which is why I'm trying to just step back and let Kosinski do his work. But then again, as a big fan of the original Tron, I want to know as much as I can about this sequel.
"They're going to build a huge amount of the set," Wilde started saying. "[Joseph Kosinski is] a really big fan of using as much sets as you can, because he's an architect as well, so he likes to build these worlds. And with something like Tron, I think it helps to create the environment as much as possible without too much green screen so that these characters can exist within this world." That seems a bit odd for something like Tron, which will end up being largely CGI in the end, but maybe there's more to this than we're seeing. "I think, for a lot of the characters, the world of Tron is their only world, and they don't know anything beyond it, and creating a world of Tron that is as intricate and solid as possible kind of helps that along."
That is about as vague as anyone can get, but what do you expect for a highly sensitive project like this that isn't even due out until 2011? Tron 2.0 is literally at the very top of my list of movies I am the most excited for, which is why I'll gladly take some small bit of news like this and run with it. Not only is Olivia Wilde drop dead gorgeous (I can't even look into her eyes for fear of melting into them), but hearing tidbits like this just makes me giddy to know more. I hope she's right about the technological revolutions. Although I wouldn't expect anything less from Disney this time. Did anything she said make sense?

I can't wait to see TR2N. I remember when I was a kid and saw the original in the theater and will be first in line waiting to see this one.

I don't think it's odd at all, Alex. In the first Tron we're only witness to caverns and dead landscapes as per MCP's control. At the end of the movie, the city comes alive and it's something we've only glimpsed for a second in that film and from a distance in the trailer.
I, for one, am glad he's trying to keep the practical involved in something this fantastical. Iron Man made use of practical effects so well it's STILL hard to tell which suits are real and which are CGI, so it's nice to hear someone who's actually talented enough to not rely on his CG artists to simply build everything after the fact.

her eyes ARE mesmerizing…and such a beautiful lady. anyway, sounds like it's going to be a big film. as if olivia wilde, alone, wasn't reason enough to go see it.

Tron 2?! How did I miss hearing the news about this one? It's about time they started making a sequel to Tron. This should be pretty good!
