Two New TV Spots - Friday the 13th and Watchmen
January 11, 2009
by Alex Billington
How about a little bit of entertainment to keep you occupied while watching the Golden Globes tonight? Two new TV spots have popped up on the web today, one from Friday the 13th, the other from Watchmen. No, this doesn't mean anything in relation to the Watchmen legal battle, as I'm sure Warner Brothers booked this TV spot months ago, before they knew what would happen. Neither of the new TV spots have that much good footage, but I'm always a fan of featuring them because it's the footage that most moviegoers will see as they're determining whether or not to actually catch the movie in theaters.
Watch the first TV spot for Watchmen:
Watchmen is directed by Zack Snyder (of Dawn of the Dead and 300) and is written by David Hayter (The Scorpion King, X-Men, X-Men 2) and Alex Tse. The film is an adaptation of Alan Moore's highly acclaimed award winning graphic novel of the same name. Watchmen officially arrives in theaters everywhere on March 6th, 2009. Stay tuned for even more Watchmen coverage, photos, and more here on FS.net!
Watch the first TV spot for Friday the 13th:
Friday the 13th is directed by ex-music video director Marcus Nispel, of 2003's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Pathfinder previously. The screenplay for this reboot was penned by writing partners Damian Shannon and Mark Swift of Freddy vs Jason previously. Although this Friday the 13th is not a sequel, it is technically the 11th film in the franchise and follows Jason's last appearance in Freddy vs Jason in 2003. Warner Brothers is bringing Friday the 13th to theaters on Friday, February 13th, 2009.

Could they have picked worse music for the Watchmen TV spot?

Agree with #1, it cheapens the footage

The inclusion of Manhattan drying the hydrogen symbol actually made me giddy. Warner Brothers, just give Fox their cash and tell them to fuck off. You'll make all your money back and more.

Ya. Squeezing all the awesome shots from better trailers into a much smaller space will make it crapper.
With no way around it.
As for the music background, don't really think its that bad.
If they used music more fitting to the movie, it would end up being slower paced and not fit the rapid switching from scene to scene.
I have no thoughts on Friday 13th. As personally despise the genre.

I saw the watchmen tv spot during the Giants game. (i dont even want to walk about how shi**y the Giants played). But I didn't really like it. However i realized that there were trying to get people who didn't know about it excited for the movie. I thought the music was totally wack. and they are not superheros

Can't Wait for the next Nightmare on elm.

I agree with Dan W about the music. I read the graphic novel some years ago and I always imagined the music of the movie more like Blade Runner…

I don't know why you're watermarking the videos now, but whether you keep them or not, they need to be smaller! On a video that small that watermark is way overpowering and distracting.
