Broken Lizard's Jay Chandrasekhar Helming Opposites Attract
January 12, 2009
by Alex Billington
It's not exactly a brand new concept - two people "switch bodies" and feel what it's like to live the other person's life. But have you ever seen a hard R version of that? Opposites Attract is one of those body switching comedies involving a young couple who must "walk a mile in each other's shoes" in order to make their relationship work. Broken Lizard's Jay Chandrasekhar, who has directed almost all of Broken Lizard's films including Super Troopers and Beerfest, will direct Opposites Attract, although it's not a Broken Lizard production. The film is being developed by Bold Films, an independent production company.
The Broken Lizard guys have been in the news quite a bit recently, for Super Troopers 2, their Greek gods movie, and Slammin' Salmon. The last (and only) feature film that Chandrasekhar directed that wasn't a Broken Lizard production was The Dukes of Hazzard remake - and we all know how that turned out. I like Chandrasekhar and the Broken Lizard guys, but I guess I've got to be sold on this concept to actually take an interest in it. Yes, I saw Freaky Friday and got enough body switching for a lifetime. That said, there really isn't much to go off of here anyway, so we'll wait to hear more from Chandrasekhar in the future.
