Emily Blunt Rumored as Black Widow in Iron Man 2!

It looks like Jon Favreau has finally decided on the new additions to Iron Man 2. Last week we heard that both Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke would join as villains. Today, Variety reports that Emily Blunt is rumored to playing the character of Black Widow aka Natasha Romanoff. We previously reported a rumor that both Black Widow and Hawkeye would have larger roles in the film and it looks like this is first confirmation that at least one of those characters will appear in the sequel. Like the Rockwell and Rourke news, this isn't confirmed by Marvel, and they probably won't be announcing it officially for a while.
Black Widow is a Soviet super spy that dons a skintight black costume that is enhanced by high-tech weaponry. She is an integral character in the Avengers universe (more than just Iron Man) because she betrays them in the comics even though she works for them and gains their trust. I'm guessing this is integral in the further development of The Avengers movie and the Tony Stark storyline that leads into that. Her character actually reminds me a lot of The Baroness from the upcoming G.I. Joe - right down to the black latex outfit. But I will admit that I think Blunt is a much better actress than Sienna Miller.

She betrays them in the Ultimates which is the Ultimate Universe, while is a good guy in the canon Marvel Universe, while these movies seem to combine elements from both the canon Marvel Universe and the Ultimate Marvel Universe, so who knows if she will betray them or not.

They sure are announcing a lot of character for this movie. The last time anyone made that observation, Spider Man 3 happened.
I reeeeally hope that won't happen here. I have faith in Favreau, but still.

I've never heard of her, but she looks the part. Favreau has been money so far on Iron Man, I'm willing to trust in it.

sorry, i just always pictured Natasha in that role when speaking of old "dream casting".

#11 and if Howard wasn't so greedy he would have been in IM2, 3 the Avengers with a possible solo franchise too which would have given him huge exposure and plenty of money in the long run.

I doubt she'll betray them in the film.
A plot line like that would take too much time to fit in a film and not come off as lame.

Well, that's not so bad. I thought I was about to read that she was replacing Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts. The next step would surely have been replacing Robert Downy Jr. with Anton Yelchin.

I love emily blunt, she's fantastic, recently I was thinking about who could play her in an avengers movie and I landed on Olga Kurylenko but this is much better casting.

emily blunt looks hot,black widow is hot.emily blunt i've heard her name before but can't think of anything she been in ?so their be something in the plot where she gives tony stark top secret info on the creation of the russian version of iron man the crimson dynamo.hawkeye would be another cool edition but neither where in the original avengers line up[iron man,hulk,thor,wasp & ant man and loki was the villain,captain america didn't join till avengers 4 .)so they could save him until the second avengers movie.i thought thor was meant to cameo in iron man 2 than that apperance would lead into the thor film.
