Must Watch: One Final Trailer for Henry Selick's Coraline
January 26, 2009
by Alex Billington
Have you ever wished for a different life? That's what this newest trailer for Coraline asks. But be careful what you wish for! I've been trying to hold off on running anything new from Coraline recently just because I'm waiting to actually see the film tomorrow. Once I've watched it, I'm sure I'll have a lot more to say, because right now, all I can say is that I really want to see it. This latest trailer shows us a lot more new footage and it still looks great. I'm not the biggest Nightmare Before Christmas fan, but something about this seems like a throwback to that film with so many more new twists. Can't wait to check it out!
Watch the new internet trailer for Henry Selick's Coraline:
Coraline Jones (Dakota Fanning) is bored in her new home until she finds a secret door and discovers an alternate version of her life on the other side. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life and the people in it — only much better. But when this seemingly perfect world turns dangerous, and her other parents try to trap her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to escape this increasingly perilous world — and save her family.
Coraline is both written and directed by Henry Selick, the visionary filmmaker behind the other stop animation movies Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, and Monkeybone. The film is an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's young adult book of the same name. Focus Features is debuting Coraline in both regular and 3-D movie theaters everywhere on February 6th, 2009. See you there!

This defiantly showcases the darkness of this story! The other trailers were almost making the story seem a little on the fluffy side, and trust me, the book does not fluff at all!!!! I'm so excited to see this!

I may make a deal to meet my students and their parents at the theater for this…they loved the book when I read it to them. This looks tremendous.

I watched this movie at a special screening in NYC where the Director had a Q & A and I've got to say that this movie is not as dark as I thought but still pretty wholesomely good. I wouldn't say it had the scope of the Nightmare Before Christmas though. I recommend you go watch it in 3D since it has some pretty good scenes that makes good use of the 3D tech.

Much better.
Still not scary enough imo.
I am almost 30, and for real… not to be a girl, but the book was pretty scary.

I'm really looking forward to this… why does Dakota Fanning always have to be attached to movies I'm excited about though? The kid freaks me out.

Wow. Looks amazing. I love Pixar and Dreamworks, but sometimes you need something much darker and this looks to be the thing.
