Joe Carnahan Taking Over Fox's A-Team Remake
January 27, 2009
by Alex Billington
We've heard a lot about this new A-Team remake over the past year or so, but in the last update we wrote, John Singleton was still directing. Not anymore. Fox has hired Smokin' Joe Carnahan to take over the reigns with Tony and Ridley Scott's production company Scott Free handling the production side of things. They will still be using Skip Woods' script and are still keeping the planned June 11th, 2010 release date, meaning this will be fast-tracked and lined up as Carnahan's next project, instead of the numerous others he was supposedly involved with, including White Jazz, Bunny Lake Is Missing, and Killing Pablo.
The A-Team, which first aired in 1983, is made up of a group of US Army Special Forces operatives, comprised of Hannibal, the leader, Face, the ladies man, Howling Mad Murdock, an unstable pilot, and B.A. Baracus, the muscles of the group. While Tyrese Gibson previously confirmed his involvement, this news doesn't mention anything about him or any other actors, meaning we'll probably hear more about who will fill all the roles at a later date. But really, even with Carnahan directing, is this A-Team remake really a good idea?! I can't get interested in this in the least bit, especially because I hated Smokin' Aces.

FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCKKK!!!!!!!!
Come on, Joe! Please tell me you're kidding!!!!!! I had such high hopes for you. YOU should have directed Righteous Kill with De Niro and Pacino.
And why would you give White Jazz?! You might have been the only one to truly make a movie that James Ellroy would have liked. But instead you decide to do a remake of a shitty show?!!
Again:
WHAT THE FFFFFUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKKK?!!!!

Loved Smokin' Aces and can't wait for the prequel. With Mr. T still around though if he doesn't play himself this movie will suck. You can get away replacing the other guys but for a current audience but EVERYONE still knows who Mr. T is and was. Not everyone knew the other members. Of course I'm sure this whole idea is stupid in most fans minds since they will no doubt have all new people.

As Long as Tyrese isn't BA, I'm cool…. I'm still pining for Vin Diesel since he has the gruff & buff to pull it off.
I thought Smokin Aces Tried a little too hard to be a Tarintino Movie, but I still came away liking it (sort of).
I'll give it a chance.

really now…a movie based on the series where at the end of each episode there was a shootout expending many thousands of rounds and no body ever gets shot….absurd…fond memories of the fun characters though….
