Sony Pictures Classics Buys Moon from Sony Pictures
Before Sundance had even begun, Sony Pictures had already picked up the sci-fi film Moon, but not as the distributor. Instead, they operated as the sales rep for the film, giving it the extra edge it needed to eventually find the right buyer. It was announced today that Sony Pictures Classics, the independent arm of Sony, has decided to pick it up for distribution. The indie studio is planning to debut Moon in theaters starting in late June. "I have always hoped for the opportunity to work with Sony Pictures Classics on the distribution of our film, even before arriving at Sundance," director Duncan Jones told Variety.

Jonah Nolan's Response to The Dark Knight Oscar Snubs
Besides Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer, one of the three people who wrote the screenplay for, and helped make, The Dark Knight an incredible movie, is Jonathan Nolan, aka Jonah Nolan. He is Chris' brother and has helped write the screenplays for The Prestige and The Dark Knight. As we all know, the Oscar nominations hit yesterday and while TDK did get a solid 8 nods, it was missing from the big categories like Best Picture and Adapted Screenplay. Yesterday we posted Andrew Stanton's response, and today we have Jonathan Nolan's response to the Oscar nominations and lack of The Dark Knight.

Tarsem Reveals Interesting War of the Gods Plot Details
Filmmaker Tarsem Singh revealed to Empire yesterday some exciting, intriguing, and altogether very slick details about his next film War of the Gods. Last year we covered the initial news about Tarsem and War of the Gods, but the specifics were still very sparse about the plot, which deals with "battles waged by Theseus, a warrior from Greek mythology, who leads a fight against the imprisoned Titans... Gods fight alongside mortals." However, Tarsem has become a bit more loose-lipped about the direction of the project, especially its visual style, which, honestly, is all the really matters when Tarsem is involved.

Konnichiwa, Japanese Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Trailer
Oh no, we haven't seen a new Harry Potter trailer since November?! It's time for another one! This latest trailer from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince comes from Japan, which means we get to see Daniel Radcliffe trying to speak Japanese and, of course, some Japanese subtitles. Although everything we've seen so far for this sixth Harry Potter movie has looked fantastic, this is one of the first times where I'm starting to get a bit worried. Too much dry humor? Maybe I'm just looking too far into this? Take a look at the trailer below and let us know if you still think this is going to be the movie of the summer?

Paramount Loses Rights for David Fincher's Torso
As you all have probably heard, David Fincher's Curious Case of Benjamin Button racked up 13 Oscar nominations yesterday. So what's next for Fincher? His door must be hanging off its hinges from all those who've been knockin', right? Well, Paramount doesn't seem to care about Fincher's success with Benjamin Button, because, as HR is reporting, they've allowed the rights option on Torso, the graphic novel upon which Fincher's supposed next film will be based, to lapse. Might this have something to do with those fights we heard about? Torso is written by Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Andreyko and recounts the true story of the "Torso Murderer", a serial killer active from 1934 to 1938. So what happened?

Sundance 2009 Day 6: Not Every Film is Truly Wonderful
Last night I finally saw my 25th film of the festival, which means I've still got 6 to go until I hit my annual minimum of 31 (by Sunday). As much as I've talked previously about how much I love everything about Sundance, there are some negatives. No, they're not associated with the festival itself, but more with my own struggles. For example, after 7 days in, I'm exhausted. I can't wake up in the mornings anymore and end up missing screenings so that I can actually sleep and/or finish work. I get frustrated every time that happens, but I have to suck it up and deal with it. But there's also something else I want to mention.

Bob $tencil Does Sundance 2009 - Day 6 Video Recap!
This video recap today may be the pinnacle of Bob Stencil's Sundance coverage. Not only does he talk to Rob Corddry and pay homage to The Shining, but Billy Bob Thornton himself personally hooks Bob up with another female reporter on the Sundance red carpet. As promised, these have been getting better and better as Sundance has continued. We're reaching the end, but Bob's still got some videos up his sleeve, and this is one of them we've been waiting to share with all of you. If there is any one of these Bob Stencil videos you watch, let it be this one. Because there's nothing better than seeing Bob make an ass of himself.

Must Watch: Badass Red Band Mutant Chronicles Trailer
Magnet has debuted a badass new red band trailer for Mutant Chronicles tonight via IGN. This film is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi war film about a group of soldiers who must save Earth from an invading mutant army. It looks a lot better than I can describe it, so just watch the trailer. It's a low budget, indie sci-fi film that has been struggling to find an audience for a few years now, with a release planned for April. This latest trailer kicks some serious ass and is definitely worth watching. I've still got some high expectations for this and really hope it ends up being an awesome cult sci-fi film that not many people know about.

Stephen Sommers Says G.I. Joe Movie Inspired by Classic James Bond
Anyone who followed our James Bond Week last November knows that I am a huge James Bond fan. So when I came across this quote, I just had to run it, even though at first I wasn't interested. For whatever reason (maybe because we haven't seen a trailer yet?), the upcoming G.I. Joe movie has no buzz at all. That will probably change the moment we see a trailer, but until then, we've got to rely on quotes like this. Director Stephen Sommers chimed in with Entertainment Weekly to primarily address a stupid gossip rumor, but also talked briefly about his inspirations which, as you guessed, involve James Bond.

More Deadpool Coming in X-Men Origins: Wolverine?!
Most people are probably familiar with the news that X-Men Origins: Wolverine is doing reshoots, or as Hugh Jackman claims, pre-planned shoots taking place in Vancouver for the next few weeks. We've heard that they're reshooting a little less than half of the film, which is actually quite a damn bit. But no one really knows exactly what is taking place up there in Canada or exactly which scenes are being reshot (or added). However, IESB has dropped by with this little scoop today, claiming that most of what they're currently shooting involves Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool along with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

William Monahan's London Boulevard to Star Farrell and Knightley
Hot off his Golden Globe win for his stellar performance in In Bruges, Colin Farrell is set to star in London Boulevard along with Keira Knightley. The film, a crime drama based on Ken Bruen's novel of the same name, is to be directed by the writer of The Departed, William Monahan, who is making his directorial debut. Variety reports that Farrell will be playing a London-based criminal just released from a stint in prison who tries to give up his gangster way of life by becoming a handyman for a reclusive actress, played by Knightley. The film will begin shooting this summer on location in and around London.

Andrew Stanton's Response to Wall-E Oscar Nominations
As we all know, the nominees for the 81st Academy Awards were announced this morning and there were some big upsets, including an excess of nominations for The Reader and a lack of big nominations for The Dark Knight. But one film that is, for the most part, getting a lot of well-deserved love is Wall-E. The film received a total of 6 nominations, for Best Animated Feature, Original Screenplay, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Score, and Original Song. The film's writer and director, Andrew Stanton, has written a brief response to the nominations announcement this morning that we have for your reading pleasure below.
