Must Watch: Government PSA - The Keene Act and You

This Government PSA was released today on behalf of the House Committee on Un-American Activities via the website TheNewFrontiersman.net. That part in the middle remind you of Judge Dredd at all? I absolutely love this viral marketing for Watchmen. There is no need to do something as epic as The Dark Knight, but this is the perfect way to introduce curious moviegoers to the world of Watchmen. I've heard some people complain that they didn't learn enough about the story from the trailers, but I don't think that's an issue. And in turn, I think this little bit of viral is the perfect way to educate moviegoers.
The actions of the superheroes or "costumed vigilantes" in the world of Watchmen caused a New York police strike in 1977, which led to rioting in the streets and the passing of the "Keene Act" which outlaws non-government affiliated vigilantes. The passing of this act led to the retirement of most of the heroes of Watchmen and the series depicts them coming out of retirement when the Comedian, one of the few government-sponsored superheroes, is murdered in the beginning. And that's how Watchmen starts.

Watchmen is directed by Zack Snyder (of Dawn of the Dead and 300) and is written by David Hayter (The Scorpion King, X-Men, X-Men 2) and Alex Tse. The film is an adaptation of Alan Moore's highly acclaimed award winning graphic novel of the same name. Watchmen officially arrives in theaters everywhere on March 6th, 2009. That was great but sometimes I really wish this type of stuff didn't blend new animation and put filters on them to make them look old. It takes the fun out of it
