Early Viral Marketing for Bruce Willis' Sci-Fi Surrogates

Disney is finally kicking off their marketing campaign for Bruce Willis' sci-fi thriller Surrogates this weekend. The studio will be debuting some of the first footage from the movie at the New York Comic-Con this weekend, and in advance of that Saturday event, some early bit of viral marketing has hit. The sneaky geeks at io9 (via SlashFilm) picked up some early photos of banners inside the convention hall, which you can see cleaned up above. The banners point people to the website ChooseYourSurrogate.com, which is a viral marketing site for the "evil" corporation in the movie called Virtual Self Industries.
The movie is set in a future where humans live in isolation and interact through surrogate robots, made by Virtual Self. When surrogates start getting murdered, Willis must leave his home to go out and investigate. The viral website has an application where you can make your own surrogate and customize its look, which is inspired by the trend at the moment of creating avatars to represent yourself. I saw a very early trailer for Surrogates back in October, but a lot of the visual effects were unfinished, so I'll be curious to see some finished footage. Stay tuned for more coverage of the New York Comic-Con and Disney's Surrogates as well!

Disney? Sci-fi? Bruce again with Disney? Gosh…’cause the last one was so great. And why are "fans" of movies so ready to see them destroyed with crap copies. I'm sorry but I never want to see a Disney version of Blade Runner or did people miss the fact this is Disney? I've seen every Bruce Willis film and the The Kid is the one that I saw back when it came on HBO and never have seen again. I've even watch Bonfire of the Vanities more than once.
