L.A. Confidential's Curtis Hanson Directing Gemini Man

Wait, that's not fair, I have to mention Curtis Hanson's other more recent films: Wonder Boys, 8 Mile, In Her Shoes, and the atrocious Lucky You. Yes, he did also direct L.A. Confidential and Bad Influence and The River Wild, but that doesn't mean he's an amazing director. Anyway, Hanson's next project will be the action thriller Gemini Man that has been in development at Touchstone / Disney for a long time. The script, written by David Benioff (25th Hour, Troy, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), is about a a brilliant, aging assassin trying to leave the game whose employers dispatch a clone of his younger self to take him out.
Gemini Man was originally pitched back in 1997 by Darren Lemke and was passed around to various writers, including Jonathan Hensleigh. This most recent draft, as we mentioned, was polished by Benioff. The good news is that Jerry Bruckheimer is producing, the bad news is that this sounds like Schwarzenegger's The 6th Day rehashed some 10 years later. The other problem is that cloning hasn't really become any more relevant today than it was back then. In fact, I'd much rather see some other futuristic concepts than stories about cloning at this point, but that's just what I'd be interested in seeing. You?

Benioff didn't write this. He "polished" it. You shouldn't give him top billing. Get your facts straight.

Curtis Hanson IS an amazing director, and if you would describe the way this film is going to be made, like the fact that they are going to take an older very established actor, and use his younger images for the younger version of himself, it actually sounds very interesting. You can bet your britches that with Curtis directing and Bruckheimer producing this film will ROCK.
