Must Watch: First Trailer for Derick Martini's Lymelife

Any indie comedy trailer that starts off with a Millennium Falcon reference in the first 20 seconds is pretty much solid gold. The first trailer for the film festival sensation Lymelife has debuted and I'm happy to feature it today. Seeing these scenes again for the first time since I saw them at Toronto last year has cheerfully reminded me why I loved this film so much. It may not be the best cut trailer around, but it does at least give us a good intro to the story and the mood within Lymelife. And you should get an idea of why Alec Baldwin is so brilliant and why Rory Culkin deserves so much praise for his performance.
I gave Lymelife a 7.5 out of 10 back at Toronto, saying it "was a well-made American coming-of-age story full of strong performances and the occasional laugh-out-loud moment." Check out the trailer below.

Lymelife is both co-written and directed by New York born filmmaker Derick Martini, who is making his directorial debut with this film. The screenplay was also co-written by Derick's brother Steven Martini. The two developed the script at the Sundance Filmmaker's Lab for eight years before finally shooting it in early 2008. The film first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival last year and is also showing at Sundance this year. Lymelife is currently scheduled to hit very limited theaters on April 17th later this year.

I'd watch it because it seems to take place on Long Island and I'm from there. But otherwise, looks pretty ordinary.

That was Emma 'Hotel for Dogs' Roberts?!
Movie looks very interesting. Looks very Ice Storm-ish, which isn't a bad thing, I'll check it out, probably on dvd.
