Reminder: AMC Best Picture Showcase This Saturday
February 19, 2009
by Alex Billington
AMC Theatres is keeping up with their tradition of running their Best Picture Showcase on Saturday just before the Oscars. The showcase features all fives of the Best Picture nominees for only $30. It's not only a pretty sweet deal, but I'll be damned if it's not an awesome experience. Most people never get to see more than one of the Best Picture nominees, and it's a damn shame, because they're all usually great movies. This year is certainly no exception and if you haven't seen all of them yet, here is your chance! I haven't yet been to one of these showcases myself, but I've heard plenty of great things, so don't miss it.
The Best Picture Showcase takes place this upcoming Saturday, February 21st. For the $30 ticket price you get a collectible pass, a free large popcorn with free refills all day, and the ability to come and go as you please (if you don't want to catch a certain flick or another). The times that each movie starts are listed:
Milk - 10:30 a.m.
The Reader - 1:05 p.m.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - 3:45 p.m.
Slumdog Millionaire - 7:15 p.m.
Frost/Nixon - 9:45 p.m.
For more information and to buy your tickets ahead of time, head over to the AMC website. Not every AMC will be running this promo, so check the listings at that page to find your nearest theater that will be running this. Remarkably, I haven't figured out my own plans for this Saturday, but I think I'm planning on catch most of the films in this. I might stop by to see Milk, Benjamin Button, and Slumdog Millionaire, but I really don't want to watch The Reader or Frost/Nixon again. Hell, those two don't even deserve to be nominated to begin with! You can find the complete list of this year's Oscar nominations right here.
