Jeffrey Dean Morgan Set to Star in The Losers Movie
February 20, 2009
by Alex Billington
At this point, Jeffrey Dean Morgan needs no introduction, especially after that interview I ran yesterday, so let's get right to it. Morgan has been cast as the lead in The Losers, the Vertigo Comics adaptation being directed by Stomp The Yard's Sylvain White. A few weeks ago we also ran a rumor about Jeremy Renner being interested in The Losers as well, which follows a special forces team that's betrayed by their handler and left for dead. The Losers, as their called, regroup in the interest of revenge and the opportunity to remove their names from a CIA death list and to conduct covert operations against the CIA and its interests.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan will play Clay, the group's leader, whose signature look favors black suits without ties. This isn't another throwaway comic adaptation, it's being produced by Joel Silver and Akiva Goldsman, two of Hollywood's biggest producers. Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) and James Vanderbilt (Darkness Falls, Zodiac) adapted the script from Vertigo's series that first hit shelves in 2003. It's expected to start shooting sometime later this year, although he has to work out a conflict with The Resident first. Morgan is an awesome and highly underrated actor and I'm excited to see him take on a strong lead role like this!

I'm curious to hear more about this movie as it comes along. I like Morgan, nothing against him, I just think Gerad Butler would be a better fit, but I think he will do good.

Wow! This is good news. I love both Jeremy Renner and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. I really hope the Jeremy Renner rumor is true. He's also a very under-rated actor. I'm looking forward to Renner's new TV show "The Unusuals" starting this April.

man i'm psyched for this. the loser series from 2003 was phenomenal. i hope they successfully capture the intelligence of the characters and the incisive political commentary of the series.
Pooch: It's right there on the dollar bill, man — "In G.O.D. we turst…"
Aisha: Guns. Oil. Drugs. The holy trinnity.
Really looking forward to how they adapt this.

Akiva Goldsman. That's it. No need to see this movie, it's already fucked.
