Green Lantern Arriving in Theaters on December 17th, 2010

It's official - Warner Brothers has just set the release date for Green Lantern as December 17th, 2010. All of you Green Lantern fans better be ready for a very green Christmas next year. In addition to Green Lantern, WB has also announced new release dates for a bunch of major upcoming projects. Christopher Nolan's new sci-fi project Inception has been set for July 16th, 2010, and Zack Snyder's next project Sucker Punch will hit on October 8th, 2010. Additionally, Louis Leterrier's re-imagining of the classic Clash of the Titans will hit theaters early, on March 26th, 2010. It already looks like an exciting year, next year!
A few other release dates worth mentioning: Josh Brolin's Jonah Hex will hit on August 6th, 2010 and the big Harry Potter finale, titled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II, will hit theaters on July 15th, 2011. If everything stays on track, this means Harry Potter will be going head-to-head with The Avengers. I'd love to start gawking at how ridiculously epic that opening weekend will be (theaters will be playing nothing but those two movies), but because Marvel hasn't announced any real plans for The Avengers, I'm going to hold off for now. Looks like WB has even more incredibly successful years ahead of them.

Is it only me or does it seem like Jonah Hex should have the October release date and Sucker Punch the August one? Jonah Hex seems more of a Halloween release and October is usually not a strong month for box office blockbusters. I think Potter will move release dates though.

I bet Ryan Gosling will be Green Lantern like rumored. TMZ or some stupid site had some photos of him leaving the gym and he looked like he was gettin all yoked for somethin.

Dude, a December showing? Couldn't they make it a late or mid summer release instead? Considering it should be a special effects / action extravaganza, I really don't see why they would release it so late in the year.
In December all I want to watch is Oscar-nominated films or crappy holiday fare.
