Brett Ratner Promises 'Hard R' Beverly Hills Cop Reboot

Brett Ratner - Beverly Hills Cop

Last year we sadly learned that Brett Ratner would be bringing us another Beverly Hills Cop reboot with Eddie Murphy. I've been neglecting to mention this project as much as I can just because I really don't want it to ever see the light of day. But alas, it'll probably get a greenlight soon enough, and it'll probably make a lot of money at the box office. Regarding the whole thing, MTV talked with Ratner recently and got some updates on where it's heading - including that it'll be "hard R" and that instead of Beverly Hills Cop 4, it'll just be called Beverly Hills Cop (or something like that), meaning it's a reboot more than anything.

I Walked With a Zombie Up First for RKO Pictures

I Walked With a Zombie

A while back we reported that RKO Pictures was planning to remake four of their own horror classics with Twisted Pictures (the company behind the Saw franchise). Well, in a conversation with Race to Witch Mountain director Andy Fickman, ComingSoon found out that the zombie classic I Walked With a Zombie will be the first of the foursome to get remade. It looks like Adam Marcus, of Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, is set to direct this, with production starting in New Orleans in the next few months. The original film first debuted in 1943 and was directed by Jacques Tourneur and starred James Ellison.

The Film Feed: Episode 01 - Inaugural Episode

The Film Feed

Today we're launching our new official podcast, The Film Feed, hosted by Will Schiffelbein (right), Clark Lamson (left), and Sean Hunter (middle), as seen in the photo above. Our last official podcast, called the HypeCast, broadcast its very final episode back in July of 2007. I've been searching for the last year and a half for a suitable replacement and have finally found one. The Film Feed is the perfect podcast for FS.net, covering all the latest movie news, hype, and more every single week. Will, Clark, and Sean have the enthusiasm and passion that I have searched so hard to find and I'm very excited to launch this today.

Check This Out: The Taking of Pelham 123 Poster Debut

Check This Out: The Taking of Pelham 123 Poster Debut

That sleek Last House on the Left poster wasn't the only new poster we'll to see today. Sony has debuted the poster for their upcoming summer movie The Taking of Pelham 123 over on JoBlo. The good thing is that a debut like this usually means that we'll also get a trailer, so expect that to hit by the end of the week. In the meantime, check out this new poster, because I think it's a pretty good design. I also like that it sets up a gritty tone. Plus, if you didn't catch this, in the original, the bad guys are referred to by colors and the leader is blue. In this remake, John Travolta is playing the blue character, hence why he has a blue tint.

Official Poster for The Last House on the Left Remake

Official Poster for The Last House on the Left Remake

The fact that I run so many movie posters should tell you that I really do love posters. Which is why I'm excited to feature this one today for Universal's The Last House on the Left remake, courtesy of ShockTillYouDrop. It's simple, it's sleek, I love the colors, I love the design, there's no need for faces or anything freaky, it's just a good looking poster. I'm actually really excited for this movie and I'm glad the poster didn't try too hard to be anything it shouldn't. If you haven't seen the trailer already, please watch it right now, and then come back and check out this poster. And let me know if you like it as much as I do?

Michael Bay Dishes Out Some Crazy Transformers 2 Hype

Michael Bay

We've seen that awesome Super Bowl TV spot and we know the full trailer hits this weekend in front of Friday the 13th, so I think it's safe to say that buzz for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is pretty much through the roof at the moment. Our friends at Collider caught up with Michael Bay on the red carpet of the Friday the 13th premiere yesterday and drilled him about all things Transformers 2. Bay says that it's a lot darker than the first one and reveals that the current running time is about 2 hours and 20 minutes. It's a really fun interview and definitely worth watching if you're excited for the new Transformers.

First Official Footage from Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds!

First Official Footage from Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds!

Apparently the rumors are true - Entertainment Tonight is showing the first full trailer for Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds tomorrow night. In advance of that debut, they've aired a very short teaser for the trailer, which features about 25 seconds of our first look at Inglourious Basterds. This is obviously a very exciting and grand debut, as this is nearly ten years in the making, and it was less than a year ago when Tarantino announced that he was actually making this and he's already put together a trailer. So without further ado, let's get on with it! Check out the first footage from Inglourious Basterds!

Richard Jenkins and Aaron Eckhart Join The Rum Diary

Richard Jenkins and Aaron Eckhart

Johnny Depp fans get ready, it looks like The Rum Diary is going to be Depp's next big project. We recently heard that Amber Heard had joined the cast and today we've got two more names to add to the call sheet - Richard Jenkins and Aaron Eckhart. Eckhart will play Sanderson, the final leg of the love triangle that Depp and Heard are all involved in on the island of Puerto Rico during the 1960s. Depp plays Hunter S. Thompson's altar ego Paul Kemp, a divorced alcoholic and struggling novelist who takes a job at the titular newspaper as a journalist and gets involved in a corrupt hotel development scheme.

Final Poster for Butler and Heigl's The Ugly Truth

Final Poster for Butler and Heigl's The Ugly Truth

Last year, Sony released a poster for their summer romantic comedy The Ugly Truth that my graphics designer friend praised (which is rare), saying that it was "cleverly minimalistic and effective." It was simple but got people interested, which is important for effective poster design. Well, Sony has released the final version of the poster and replaced the stick figures with the real actors - Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl. I think they did a good job taking the simple design and adding some faces to it, so I wanted to feature it today. I've also put up the original poster below to compare the two side-by-side, if you're interested.

Hollywood Studios Battling Over Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Hitting bookshelves this May is Seth Grahame-Smith's "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies", an "updated" version of the Jane Austen classic that includes new portions featuring violent, flesh-hungry zombie hordes. It's already gaining quite a bit of early buzz, because it's such an awesome concept. The UK's Times Online is saying that "Hollywood studios are bidding to turn a radical reworking of Austen’s most popular book" into a blockbuster movie. As much as I hate period pieces, this is definitely one I can support! No word on exactly which studios are bidding, but I'm sure it's a few of the bigger ones in town.

Worth Watching - Feb 9: Cary Fukunaga's Sin Nombre Trailer

Sin Nombre Trailer

Cary Fukunaga's Sin Nombre won both the cinematography and directing awards at Sundance this year, putting it in the spotlight even after it received quite a bit of early buzz from screenings. Unfortunately I never got to see it during the fest and it now falls into that dreaded category of being one of those films that I seriously regret missing. Focus Features has debuted the official trailer below and it really does look pretty damn good, along the lines of Slumdog Millionaire, but about crossing borders instead. I'm hoping to catch it soon, as its due out in theaters in March, and is definitely worth a look if this is your kind of movie.

Why Jean Claude Van Damme Won't Be in The Expendables

Jean Claude Van Damme

We already know who's starring in Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables - Sly himself, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Mickey Rourke. It's essentially a who's who of cinematic badasses, give or take a few people, like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Jean Claude Van Damme (or even Chuck Norris). Arnold is no longer shooting films because he's the Governator, but we know that JCVD has been making a comeback, this year in particular. So why isn't he in this, too? Well guess what, JCVD was actually offered a role from Stallone, but he declined. Why, you ask? Thanks to Total Film, we know the real answer.
