New Batch of Jason Statham Photos from Crank 2

New Batch of Jason Statham Photos from Crank 2

Although we've already seen a trailer for Crank 2: High Voltage, I'm still excited to see new photos from the movie, probably because it's going to kick so much ass. UGO just posted a batch of new Jason Statham photos showing him getting ready to juice up, amongst other things. Whenever I see new photos or even hear about Crank 2, I always think back to that crazy post we ran last year with the giant rubber head - if you haven't seen these photos, you need to! I'm still wondering how the heck that giant head is even going to play into this movie, but I'm guessing it's right after he grabs the power grid that you see below.

DreamWorks is in Trouble, May Partner with Disney Instead?!

Disney - DreamWorks

Did you ever think you'd see the day when DreamWorks and Disney would be working together? Wait, we mean Steven Spielberg's DreamWorks, not DreamWorks Animation. Back in October, DreamWorks officially ended their relations with Paramount and split from the company. They did so because they had received nearly half a billion in funding from an India based company called Reliance Big Entertainment and was asssured that Universal would partner with them instead. Bad news - Universal has pulled out of the distribution agreement. And we hear DreamWorks is secretly talking with Disney instead!

First Look: Michael Caine in Daniel Barber's Harry Brown

First Look: Michael Caine in Daniel Barber's Harry Brown

If you've seen Taken, ask yourself, is there anyone that could kick as much ass as Liam Neeson but is older than him? How about Michael Caine? Thanks to Empire, we've got a first look at two new shots of Caine as/in Harry Brown, an ex-Marine and widow forced to journey through a seedy world of drugs and guns to take revenge for the brutal death of his best friend at the hands of a gang of thugs. Sounds like the makings of a British version of Taken, in a twisted way, and is also being described as a mix of Get Carter and Gran Torino. Let's just say this already sounds like a movie I want to see. Check out the photos!

Watchmen Video Journal: Rorschach's Mask

Watchmen Video Journal: Rorschach's Mask

It's that time of the month and that means we've got the latest Watchmen video journal to share with all of you. Empire presents the 11th of 12 behind-the-scenes video journals chronicling the development of the film. Today's video journal focuses on the character of Rorschach (played by Jackie Earle Haley) and his ever-changing ink blot mask that wears throughout the film. This was one of the biggest challenges for them to pull off because the ink blots are constantly changing shape. It's fascinating, as always, to watch this and see all of the little elements of design and detail coming together in such a grand way. I love these videos, because they capture the true filmmaking essence of what is the Watchmen movie.

Kyle Newman's Fanboys Hit Theaters Today - Go See It!

Fanboys Movie

I don't really want to support The Weinstein Company, but I do really want to support Kyle Newman. It's taken almost two full years for his movie to finally get out from under the wrath of Darth Weinstein, and it's finally arrived! Originally slated for release on August 17th of 2007, Kyle Newman's Fanboys is just hitting theaters today. We've pulled together a list of the movie theaters and cities showing the movie this weekend, so be sure to find the nearest location to you and go see it! It's rare that I do some heavy promotion like this, but it's a final reminder that after a nearly endless studio battle, Fanboys is finally out in the wild!

Brad Bird Updates the Status of His Earthquake Project 1906

1906 Book - Brad Bird

The last we heard from Ratatouille director Brad Bird on his live-action earthquake project 1906 was in March of last year, so it's about time we finally get an update on it. I've personally bit looking forward to the project quite a bit and have been hoping that it didn't get caught up in production hell, which is a possibility given the concept. Well, Latino Review just spoke with Bird recently and got some updates on the status of 1906, but unfortunately it's still not ready yet. "We're looking at places to shoot it. The script, I'm still working. It's a really hard script to write," Bird says. "We'll see if they have the courage to make it."

Worth Watching - Feb 6: Giant Bug Movie Infestation Trailer

Infestation Trailer

Now this is what Stephen King's The Mist should've been like! Thanks to our friends at JoBlo, we've got the first trailer for the giant bug movie Infestation. This stars Fanboys actor Chris Marquette as a white collar office worker who must battle a sudden outbreak of giant killer alien insects. It's part horror and it's part comedy and overall it actually looks pretty awesome! I love that our technology has come so far that movies like this can be made on low budgets and still look great. This is the first time I've ever heard of Infestation, but I'm now glad to feature this trailer, because I've got a feeling it could quickly become a cult hit.

Early Viral Marketing for Bruce Willis' Sci-Fi Surrogates

Surrogates

Disney is finally kicking off their marketing campaign for Bruce Willis' sci-fi thriller Surrogates this weekend. The studio will be debuting some of the first footage from the movie at the New York Comic-Con this weekend, and in advance of that Saturday event, some early bit of viral marketing has hit. The sneaky geeks at io9 (via SlashFilm) picked up some early photos of banners inside the convention hall, which you can see cleaned up above. The banners point people to the website ChooseYourSurrogate.com, which is a viral marketing site for the "evil" corporation in the movie called Virtual Self Industries.

Back For More - Sex and the City Sequel Coming Together

Sex and the City

We would say that this was inevitable, but the fate of the Sex and the City franchise was actually tied to its box office. Even if you hate the show or the movie, you can't deny that it has a very powerful audience, because it ended up taking in a massive $152 million this summer on a $65 million budget. So believe it or not, they're making the sequel. E! Online was the first to report that all four stars, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis, as well as writer and director Michael Patrick King, have agreed to return, giving this the big greenlight. Now New Line wants to put it on the fast-track for 2010.

Must Watch: Full Teaser Trailer for Will Ferrell's Land of the Lost

Full Teaser Trailer for Will Ferrell's Land of the Lost

For all of you who liked the Super Bowl TV spot, here is the full version of the teaser trailer for Land of the Lost. The movie stars Will Ferrell, Danny McBride, and Anna Friel, as well as SNL's Jorma Taccone. Based on the 1970's TV show, Land of the Lost follows the adventures of Park Ranger Rick Marshall, who inadvertently stumbles into a mysterious land populated by dinosaurs and other creatures, including the mysterious race of Sleestaks. This movie looks like it'll just be a bunch of CGI nonsense thrown together with some stupid humor. Personally, I'm not looking forward to it, but I expect it to be a big summer hit.

First Look: Black Eyed Peas' Taboo as Vega in Street Fighter

First Look: Black Eyed Peas' Taboo as Vega in Street Fighter

Let's just forget about Dragonball and focus on Street Fighter! No, that photo above is not Vega, but the one below is. One of our readers sent over two new photos from Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li tonight, one of which happened to be our first look at Black Eyed Peas' singer Taboo as the character Vega. I've also thrown up a comparison shot of the actual Vega from the video games, because it seems like this is a much less stylized version. I don't think it's right for me to critique the movie based on how he looks in a photo, because for all we know, he could kick some serious ass and we just haven't seen it yet!

Soderbergh to Direct, Pitt to Star in Moneyball Adaptation

Steven Soderbergh Directing Moneyball

Steven Soderbergh, fresh off the release of his two-part biopic Che, is set to make the big-screen adaptation of Michael Lewis' book "Moneyball: The Art of Winning An Unfair Game" his next directing project. Brad Pitt is set to re-team with Soderbergh and star as the main character Billy Beane. The book is being adapted by Oscar winning writer Steven Zaillian, of American Gangster most recently. Moneyball centers on Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland Athletics, who used sophisticated computer analysis systems to piece together a team that regularly contended for the World Series despite possessing a payroll dramatically lower than big-market rivals like the New York Yankees. This should be great!
