See Nicolas Cage, Run Cage Run - New Knowing Photos

See Nicolas Cage, Run Cage Run - New Knowing Photos

Can it get any more unexciting than this? While I'm actually excited to see Knowing, this new batch of photos found over on SlashFilm is instead, just plain boring. We get three new photos of Nic Cage running, running, and kneeling. Oh, how so very interesting! Realistically, these are utter trash and should never have been put out. So why the heck am I running them? Good question! Well, because there's nothing better to talk about at the moment, especially considering I'm sitting in a plane at 32,000 feet on my way to New York City to eventually see some footage from Knowing at the New York Comic-Con this weekend.

Ewan McGregor and Carey Mulligan Join The Electric Slide

Ewan McGregor and Carey Mulligan

It's electric, boogie woogie, woogie! If you haven't already heard, the next big actress in Hollywood is not really Amber Heard, it's actually Carey Mulligan, a 23-year-old budding actress from England. She blew audiences away (including me) in Lone Scherfig's An Education at Sundance and is already getting awards buzz for her performance more than a year out. While she's also got a role in Michael Mann's Public Enemies and Jim Sheridan's Brothers, he first big job since all the Sundance buzz was just announced today. Mulligan is joining Ewan McGregor in a project called The Electric Slide (hence my choice of lyrics).

First Official Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Posters!

First Official Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Posters!

Thanks to the Italian website BadTaste.it, we've got our first look at three new official posters for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Time has flown by fast and it'll be July before we know it, which means despite Warner Brothers's decision to delay this movie, it'll be in theaters before we know it! Or at least they're marketing team is making us forget all about that originally planned November release. Given this is the Harry Potter franchise and we're six movies in, I don't need to provide much more of an intro than I've already done. We all know who Harry Potter and Dumbledore are, so dive right in and enjoy!

Interview: Coraline Writer and Director Henry Selick

Henry Selick

What goes on in the mind of a brilliant stop-motion filmmaker? Well, why don't you find out! Last week I sat down with Henry Selick, the writer/director behind not only the upcoming Coraline, but also Nightmare Before Christmas. After seeing Coraline in 3D just the day before doing the interview, I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was to spend just a few minutes talking with Henry. It's taken him years to craft the world of Coraline and the result the end is something so visually astounding and beautiful that it's hard to appreciate every last detail in one viewing. So without any further ado, let's get into this!

Amber Heard Joins Johnny Depp in The Rum Diary

Amber Heard

Hollywood hottie Amber Heard is in negotiations to play the coveted female lead opposite Johnny Depp in The Rum Diary, the adaptation of the Hunter S. Thompson novel being directed by Bruce Robinson. It also looks like that news that we ran a few weeks ago about Depp taking on The Rum Diary as his next feature film was pretty accurate. Production begins on March 30th in Puerto Rico with Depp's Infinitum Nihil and Graham King's GK Films producing. Depp will play Paul Kemp, a freelance journalist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean.

Damn, There's Another New Dragonball Evolution Trailer?!

Dragonball Evolution Trailer

Flying SUVs, huge dragons, American actors - what more could you ask for in a Dragonball movie?! Oh right, how about a good story and good effects! Although we just posted a French trailer two days ago, another new US trailer for Dragonball Evolution has arrived this morning. I've been emailed by numerous Dragonball fans who have been telling me that I need to run the new Japanese trailer that showed up online yesterday because it finally clears any doubts they had. Well, this is the full version of that Japanese trailer, and it's in English, so check it out. And let us know if you still have any doubts?

Special Effects Company The Orphanage Shuts Down

The Orphanage

The recession has been hitting Hollywood hard, even though we may not be able to always notice it. Last week we reported that Imagi Animation had to shut down for a week until additional funding came through. Now today another great special effects house has shut down. Although you may not know The Orphanage by name, you certainly know their work. Co-founded in 1999 by ex-ILM staffers Stu Maschwitz, Jonathan Rothbart and Scott Stewart, the San Francisco based visual effects / CGI house has worked on films like The Spirit, Iron Man, Grindhouse, Live Free or Die Hard, Pirates of the Caribbean, Night at the Museum, Superman Returns, The Host, Sin City and so many more movies. It will be sad to see them go.

Casino Royale's Martin Campbell to Direct the Green Lantern Movie!

Martin Campbell

Green Lantern fans rejoice, for today is your day! Director Martin Campbell is in negotiations to helm the Green Lantern movie that Warner Brothers is developing based on the popular DC Comics superhero. This is great news because Campbell is the guy behind not only GoldenEye, but also Casino Royale, The Mask of Zorro, and Vertical Limit. Although he's only stood out with those two Bond movies, I've got a good feeling he's going to take the highly praised script for this, written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Michael Green, and turn it into something pretty awesome. I was excited before, but now I can't wait!

Universal Making Candy Land Movie with Enchanted Director

Candy Land

Candy Land?! Yes, Candy Land! You know, that frickin' board game? Believe it or not, it looks like Universal is going to get a Candy Land feature film made before Ridley Scott makes his Monopoly movie. Universal has hired Tropic Thunder and Sherlock Holmes screenwriter Etan Cohen to write the screenplay and Enchanted director Kevin Lima to direct. Of all the people they could've chosen, Lima is one of two that I actually would've agree'd to and said, "okay, now I see how this could maybe happen." Of course it's going to be cheesy as hell and totally surreal and ridiculous, but we're still going to have a Candy Land movie!

Orlando Bloom Headlining Andrew Niccol's Sci-Fi Feature

Orlando Bloom

Orlando Bloom is headed to the "near future" next in a sci-fi escape movie titled The Cross. Bloom will be joined by Vincent Cassel and Bond girl Olga Kurylenko in the next feature from director Andrew Niccol (of Gattaca, S1m0ne, and Lord of War previously). The $24 million sci-fi escape story, set in a border town, is about a man seeking to cross a mysterious border, something which no one else has achieved. Bloom will play the one trying to cross that border, while Cassel will play the guard who will go to any lengths to prevent him. Pre-production has already started and shooting will begin in July in Australia.

New Batch of Behind-the-Scenes Public Enemies Photos

New Batch of Behind-the-Scenes Public Enemies Photos

Although we were just forced to remove those Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen behind-the-scenes photos, we've got some new ones to replace them with. Thanks to Phil Edwards of Live for Films, we've got a few new photos from Michael Mann's Public Enemies. A much larger batch (meaning 400+ photos) of shots from the set in Columbus, Wisconsin were posted on Michelle Martin's site as well. There are a lot of random photos of old signs and other set pieces, but we've pulled some of the better ones that show Johnny Depp in action and a few of the more stylistic shots that represent the time period.

Must Watch: Government PSA - The Keene Act and You

The Keene Act & You Government PSA

This Government PSA was released today on behalf of the House Committee on Un-American Activities via the website TheNewFrontiersman.net. That part in the middle remind you of Judge Dredd at all? I absolutely love this viral marketing for Watchmen. There is no need to do something as epic as The Dark Knight, but this is the perfect way to introduce curious moviegoers to the world of Watchmen. I've heard some people complain that they didn't learn enough about the story from the trailers, but I don't think that's an issue. And in turn, I think this little bit of viral is the perfect way to educate moviegoers.
