Odd Comedy Trio Headed to the Hot Tub Time Machine
One of the most buzzed about comedic screenplays floating around last year was called Hot Tub Time Machine, about a group of idiots who literally travel back in time in their hot tub. It has that kind of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure feel to it, which is why it was one of those projects that everyone wanted to see. According to Production Weekly's Twitter, Hot Tub Time Machine is finally moving into production in April and has already lined up a cast - John Cusack, Rob Corddry, and Craig Robinson. The project is being produced by MGM and directed by Steve Pink, who made his feature debut with Accepted.

Sound Off: The Oscar Ceremony - Your Favorite Moments?
As Yojiro Takita, director of Best Foreign Film winner Departures, said last night during his acceptance speech, "I am here because of films!" The Oscars are a time to celebrate any and everything film, whether it be the celebrities and their shenanigans, or the filmmakers and craftsmen who make it all look good, or the big execs who make everything happen. I'm one of those people who has grown up with the Oscars. I've watched the show since before I can remember and have never missed it, no matter where I am. This year's new format was refreshing to see and has obviously provided plenty for us to talk about the day after.

Exciting New Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Featurette
This two-and-a-half-minute featurette plays like an extended trailer for the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, but with some interviews and behind-the-scenes footage in addition to all of the actual finished scenes. While we got a glimpse at a few new scenes during the Oscar credits, this has some exciting new footage that should make every Harry Potter fan happy. I'm looking forward to Half-Blood Prince because it looks so incredibly epic, and I'm not sure if that's good or bad, because I keep reminding myself that this is only PG, even though some of these sequences look very intense. Take a look!

Judd Apatow's Pineapple Express Oscars Comedy Short
Another one of my favorite parts of the Oscars ceremony last night was the Pineapple Express comedy segment featuring James Franco and Seth Rogen. In case you didn't know, it was written and directed by Judd Apatow and also featured the real Oscar winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminski. I've been anxious to see it again, because I laughed so much when I first watched it, and the two pulled off a perfectly hilarious segment again. Truly one of the highlights of the entire Oscar ceremony! Sorry for the low quality video below, but we'll try and update it once we get a better high resolution version, but until then, enjoy!

Sean Penn's Wonderful Oscars Acceptance Speech
Although Sean Penn's win for Best Actor at the Oscars tonight might have been a bit of an upset for some, in the end, Penn's wonderful acceptance speech should have made up for any complaints. Since Penn won for his portrayal as Harvey Milk in Gus Van Sant's Milk, his speech reflected the recent Proposition 8 issues in California and featured quite a bit of good light-hearted (gay and non-gay) comedy. Penn also thanked everyone else associated with the film, but did so very admirably. Thankfully we've already got the video of his speech up, so if you want to watch it again, or see it for the first time, check it out below.

First Promo Trailer for Alejandro Amenábar's Agora
Thanks to our friends at SlashFilm, the first trailer for The Sea Inside director Alejandro Amenábar's Roman Egypt set historical drama Agora has hit the web early today. Normally I don't like period pieces too much, but this looks pretty damn good. Agora stars Rachel Weisz as Hypatia of Alexandria and Max Minghella as her slave named Davus. The story follows Davus who turns to the rising tide of Christianity in the hopes of pursuing freedom while also falling in love with his master, the famous female philosophy professor and atheist Hypatia. This is an early promo trailer and this is no dialogue yet, but it's look really good so far.

Veidt Music Network Special - Who Watches the Watchmen?
We've been following the Watchmen viral website TheNewFrontiersman.net for a while now, and with the movie due out in a few more weeks, we weren't expecting anything too exciting to pop up last minute. But alas, another crazy old school video has hit, this time from the Veidt Music Network. It's an old MTV-style video segment called "Who Watches the Watchmen?" It's probably already made the rounds, but if you haven't seen it yet, here's your chance. I've enjoyed the past few videos (10 Years of Dr. Manhattan and The Keene Act and You), but this one just wasn't as good as those, although it's fun stuff nevertheless.

Worth Watching - Feb 22: Flame and Citron Trailer
Flame & Citron is a thrilling Danish WWII film about two freedom fighters and assassins named Flame (played by Thure Lindhardt, left above) and Citron (played by Mads Mikkelsen, right above). I first saw it at the Telluride Film Festival last year and was considerably impressed, as it's an unrelenting and entirely non-Hollywood kind of WWII film with some exceptional performances. The two are assigned to go kill high ranking Nazis in Denmark and are subsequently heralded as national heroes. This is based on reality as well, which makes it all the more fascinating to watch. I will definitely suggest this to anyone interested.

DreamWorks Animation's Shrek Goes Fourth Plot Revealed?
Sadly, DreamWorks Animation is working on another Shrek sequel, called Shrek Goes Fourth, for release in 2010, even though the third one was panned by critics (it has a 49% on Rotten Tomatoes, to be exact). The third one was as bad as it was, because after three movies, the concept has been stretched so much, that there's no more good stories left to tell that aren't ridiculous and/or contrived. If you've been curious about what they're doing next, an early plot synopsis has been discovered, thanks to Lackluster Emporium (via SlashFilm). Just like the past two Shrek movies, though, it doesn't sound that great at all.

Check This Out: Funky Observe and Report Poster
A few weeks ago we debuted the hilarious red band trailer for Observe and Report, the upcoming comedy from director Jody Hill starring Seth Rogen and Anna Faris. Today we've got the official poster for the film (courtesy of IMPAwards), which features a pretty stern looking Rogen dressed up in his security guard uniform, and that's about it. It's pretty simple but that's probably because Warner Brothers doesn't really know how else to market this, since it's as R rated as comedies come. I think they're also trying to make fun of the Paul Blart: Mall Cop poster, and the tagline is pretty good, too. If you're interested check it out.
