Badass Set of Posters for Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds
Hot on the heels of the new teaser trailer for Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, a set of three new teaser posters have hit the web, and they are very badass. It goes without question that Universal and The Weinstein Company are going to really try and capture the "badass-ness" of Inglourious Basterds in all of the marketing. So far so good, I'd say! Thanks to Empire, we've got our first look at the three of them. And just to mention, they're labeled as international posters, because I'm sure that's the only way they could get away with so much blood and implied violence on them, since they're definitely not MPAA approved.

Stephen Gaghan Adapting Dead Spy Running for McG
Whoa, it looks like McG is Warner Brothers's new favorite director! The studio has announced an adaptation of "Dead Spy Running" being written by Stephen Gaghan (Traffic, The Alamo, Syriana) and directed by McG. The original book was written by British author Jon Stock and "aims to reinvent the spy genre" by telling the origin story of a newly trained spy in a tone that mixes the grittiness of The Bourne Identity with the wittiness of John Le Carre's oeuvre. The book, which won't be published until June, begins with the protagonist running the London Marathon, while a fellow racer is strapped with explosives.

Twilight's New Moon Get's an Official Logo Treatment
News about the upcoming sequel to last year's Twilight continues to trickle in as the studio creeps towards a November 2009 release. Today, we have a look at the official title and logo treatment for the follow up, thanks to MTV. Leveraging the $360+ million draw from the original movie and ambitions for tween domination - it is, after all, "one of the most anticipated movies... a worldwide phenomenon" - New Moon gets a commercial-savvy prefix: The Twilight Saga's New Moon. Author Stephanie Meyer often used "Twilight Series" to describe the four-book series, but "saga" sounds so much more important, right?

Werc Werk Works to Bring Us Howl with James Franco
Back in July amidst a storm of pre-Milk James Franco news, we reported that the current graduate student was set to star as the lead in Howl, an Allen Ginsberg biopic named after the late poet's best known work and focusing on his trial after its publication. According to Variety, that project is a now further along with production and financing being handled by indie studio Werc Werk Works. The studio just launched this past August and has two other small projects in the "werks" (pun intended), The Turin Horse and Forgiveness. Shooting will start on March 16 in New York for Howl, which sounds pretty interesting.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Set to Star in The Losers Movie
At this point, Jeffrey Dean Morgan needs no introduction, especially after that interview I ran yesterday, so let's get right to it. Morgan has been cast as the lead in The Losers, the Vertigo Comics adaptation being directed by Stomp The Yard's Sylvain White. A few weeks ago we also ran a rumor about Jeremy Renner being interested in The Losers as well, which follows a special forces team that's betrayed by their handler and left for dead. The Losers, as their called, regroup in the interest of revenge and the opportunity to remove their names from a CIA death list and to conduct covert operations against the CIA and its interests.

It Looks Like Linda Hamilton is Back for More Terminator!
In addition to all of the rumors regarding Arnold Schwarzenegger's appearance in Terminator Salvation, the other one we've been hearing plenty of buzz about recently is Linda Hamilton, the original Sarah Connor. Rumors first started circulating in January, when McG said that they were looking to do a voiceover with her to open the movie. It was all just a rumor at the time, but MTV finally caught up with Hamilton and got some confirmation. "We are talking," she said. "I haven’t read it yet. I don’t know what direction they will go in," but it sounds like she's in if McG convinces her, which is more than likely going to happen.

Watchmen Director's Cut Will Be Back in Theaters in July?!
This is a very big IF right now, but as long as everything goes incredibly well on March 6th, it may happen! The music gurus over at VH1 confirmed some quotes from Zack Snyder today about the Watchmen "director's cut," which runs around 3 hours and 10 minutes at the moment. "[It] comes out in July," Snyder told VH1, and it's "considerably more violent than this ... and sexier." And apparently if Watchmen does well in March, the director's cut could get a theatrical release in Los Angeles and New York in July. Hot damn! If I were you, I'd make sure you're seeing Watchmen in a few weeks, because I want this happen!

Fresh New Details on Zack Snyder's Illustrated Man
It was way back in August of 2007 that we first reported that Zack Snyder would be helming another adaptation of Ray Bradbury's collection of short stories known as The Illustrated Man. Obviously when Snyder took on Watchmen instead, we didn't hear much. However, Collider talked with screenwriter Alex Tse yesterday about his upcoming projects, including some new details on the direction he's going in with his adaptation of The Illustrated Man. Of the 18 stories in the anthology, Tse said that he's tapped 6 to be a part of the film, including the titular story "The Illustrated Man", "Veldt", and "Concrete Mixer."

Reminder: AMC Best Picture Showcase This Saturday
AMC Theatres is keeping up with their tradition of running their Best Picture Showcase on Saturday just before the Oscars. The showcase features all fives of the Best Picture nominees for only $30. It's not only a pretty sweet deal, but I'll be damned if it's not an awesome experience. Most people never get to see more than one of the Best Picture nominees, and it's a damn shame, because they're all usually great movies. This year is certainly no exception and if you haven't seen all of them yet, here is your chance! I haven't yet been to one of these showcases myself, but I've heard plenty of great things, so don't miss it.

Wes Craven Talks More Remakes, Including Shocker
A few outlets caught up with Wes Craven recently at a showcase for the his upcoming remake of The Last House on the Left. Craven directed the original back in 1972 and opted for a redo after the studio's 30-year license expired. A similar situation arose with 2006's Hills Have Eyes, which was a solid trip back the 1977 original. It's yet to be seen if the latest remake of a Craven original - Dennis Iliadis is directing this time around - will perform at the same level of Hills, but the father of Freddy Krueger did talk with JoBlo's AITH about other horror remakes in the works, including Shocker and People Under the Stairs.

Interview: Watchmen's Comedian - Jeffrey Dean Morgan
Of all the people involved in Watchmen, the one actor I really wanted to interview was Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who plays The Comedian. Not only is he a great guy in person (I've met him before), but his character is one of the darkest and most complex in the entire movie. Yesterday afternoon I sat down with him to talk about Watchmen and what it's like being a part of something so incredible. And because we're all very excited about Watchmen, I thought I'd put up my video interview for your viewing pleasure. Be careful, this isn't exactly spoiler free, but it should be a fascinating interview to watch - at least I think so!

Entertainment Weekly's 25 Greatest Active Film Directors
Entertainment Weekly has unveiled their list of the 25 Greatest Active Film Directors. This is one of those lists that gives you shivers it's so damn good. I could live in a world where only these 25 directors made every last movie and I'd still be happy. This really is the definitive list and Entertainment Weekly nailed it this time (well, except for Michael Mann). This is a fitting list for Oscar weekend, too, even more so this year because four of the nominees are on this, except for Stephen Daldry, who stole Christopher Nolan's spot and doesn't deserve to even be nominated at all. Read on for the full list and some discussion.
