Worth Watching - Feb 19: Battle for Terra Trailer
It's very rare that we ever see independently developed animated movies (that aren't terrible). Battle for Terra, originally called just Terra, is one of them that deserves plenty of praise for both its great story and fantastic animation. Yet it has been mishandled ever since it debuted at the Toronto Film Festival way, way back in 2007 (that's where I first saw it). The first trailer has finally hit the web today, courtesy of AOL, and it's worth checking out. Above anything else, I hope everyone notices how oddly similar the story is to Sony's Planet 51. Is it a coincidence that Planet 51 was made after Terra first debuted? I think not!

Steven Spielberg's Lincoln Also Having Financial Troubles?!
We've been hearing a lot of talk about Steven Spielberg's Lincoln project around Hollywood recently, but not all of it has been legitimate. And with the excessive amount of unconfirmed rumors floating around these days, we've been trying to only stick with the good stuff. We all know that DreamWorks split from Paramount late last year and recently attached itself with Disney a few weeks ago. However, because the Lincoln project was in development at Paramount, Spielberg needs to work with them and get them to approve it in order to actually make it. According to Slate's The Big Money, unfortunately that didn't happen, and Paramount has since passed on the project. Spielberg really is in trouble these days.

A Brief Look at Tom Cruise's Next Few Possible Roles
Everyone is proclaiming that "Tom Cruise is back!" But was he ever gone? Variety has put together a comprehensive article looking a Tom Cruise's upcoming projects and tries to decipher which of them may happen and which will be put on hold. Apparently Cruise has "been more proactive and aggressive than in past years about meeting studio execs and showing interest in a flurry of projects." I wonder if this is due to the respect he gained from Tropic Thunder? Subsequently, the studios have been getting ansy, because Cruise's involvement usually means lots of box office cash. Let's take a look at his next few projects.

Katherine Heigl Joins Robert Luketic's Five Killers
"Grey's Anatomy" actress Katherine Heigl has signed on to star opposite Ashton Kutcher in the Lionsgate thriller Five Killers. We announced that Kutcher would be joining back in October, so this isn't the first time we've heard of it. Five Killers is being directed by Robert Luketic, of 21 and The Ugly Truth, and was originally written by Bob DeRosa (The Air I Breathe), with Ted Griffin (Ocean's Eleven, Matchstick Men) handling the rewrite. The story kicks off when a woman marries the man of her dreams (Kutcher), but their lives are turned upside down when they discover that their neighbors may be assassins hired to kill them.

More Updated Details on Robert Rodriguez's Nerveracker
It was only yesterday that the news first hit about Robert Rodriguez's Nerveracker, the futuristic thriller that he's set to direct next. The updated details come from an official press release sent out by The Weinstein Company, which means we don't have to sift through regurgitated news. First things first, the project is actually titled just Nerveracker, without the plural "s" as originally listed. "This is one of those projects that we dreamed about making for years, and now the timing is right to finally do it," Rodriguez says. "Bob [Weinstein] has always been encouraging and shown genuine excitement for my ideas..."

What are you doing on Friday, July 17th? Well, besides seeing Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, of course! After you watch Harry and Dumbledore battle some Inferi in the caves, you're going to go see 500 Days of Summer. Listen to what I'm saying - you are going to go see 500 Days of Summer! Director Marc Webb's wonderful romantic comedy that became a Sundance sensation this year was initially scheduled for release on July 24th, but Fox Searchlight has moved up its release by one week. Don't worry too much, it'll probably open limited on the 17th and expand further throughout late July and early August.

Wachowski Brothers Superman Rumor Debunked!
Remember that rumor we ran the other day about the Wachowski Brothers directing a Superman trilogy for Warner Brothers? It was both completely ridiculous and incredibly exciting at the same time, right? Well, sadly, it has been debunked. According to SlashFilm, it was all just a big hoax to begin with. "The Wachowski Brothers have definitely never had any talks with DC or Warner Bros to helm a Superman film. This is confirmed." While I had a gut feeling that it wasn't true to begin with, I was wishing that, by some stroke of luck, it might've ended up being true, just because I love the Wachowski Brothers movies!

Who Else is in Scott Pilgrim? Could it be Jason Schwartzman?
We've been running Edgar Wright's behind-the-scenes photos from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World for a few weeks now. And before that we ran numerous article on casting for just about everyone who is in the movie, including all of the seven evil ex-boyfriends. Or so we thought! One of them was never identified, that one being the evilest ultimate seventh ex-boyfriend, the toughest one that Scott must defeat in order to date Ramona V. Flowers. It slipped out last week that Jason Schwartzman might be that ex, but it wasn't confirmed. Well, this latest photo, with a big question mark, pretty much puts confirms that rumor.

Must Watch: New Trailer for The Boat That Rocked!
We've been following Richard Curtis' The Boat That Rocked for quite some time now, even though Universal still hasn't set a US release date. We even debuted an early trailer for it back in December, but I wasn't too excited by what I saw. Today MSN debuted the newest trailer and it's a vast improvement over that first one. So much so that this has been reinstated on my short list of films that I'm anxious to see even though they don't have a US release date. This really does look fantastic, probably even more so because I finally watched Curtis' Love Actually for the first time a few months ago. Get this over here now!

Check This Out: Teaser Poster for The Crazies Remake
Whether you like it or not, Overture Films is remaking George Romero's classic 1973 film The Crazies, about the inhabitants of a small Kansas town who are beset by death and insanity after a plane crash lets loose a secret biological weapon into the water supply. The remake is being helmed by Breck Eisner, of only Sahara previously, while the script was written by Ray Wright (Pulse) and Scott Kosar (The Amityville Horror). Thanks to our friends over at Bloody Disgusting today, we've got our first look at a rather gnarly teaser poster. I'm pretty damn certain this will make a few unaware individuals slightly more interested.

So, Mickey Rourke Won't Be in Iron Man 2 After All?
Just a few days before Mickey Rourke's big day the Oscars, word has hit the streets that apparently he won't be in Iron Man 2 after all. The news about Rourke joining the project first hit in early January, but just a few days later, we started hearing that the trades had made that announcement very prematurely. Then, just a few weeks ago, we got confirmation that Rourke's character wasn't actually Crimson Dynamo, but potentially the villain Whiplash instead. Now apparently his involvement was been wiped enitrely off the table! Rourke himself told New York Magazine that, "right now, we're not doing Iron Man 2." Sad news!

Check This Out: Watchmen Nite Owl Dark Roast Coffee
You need to actually see this to believe it! No, it's not viral marketing, believe it or not, this is actual Watchmen coffee created by the Organic Coffee Cartel that's owned by photographer Clay Enos (who took the photos in the Watchmen: Portraits book). The OCC is selling only one run of 10,000 cans of Veidt Enterprise's Nite Owl Dark Roast, a 100% organic specialty coffee. "Making an imaginary coffee into something real seemed like a fitting and fun way to honor the multi-layered world of Watchmen. And having a majority of profits go to charity seems a little like something Adrian Veidt would do," says Enos.
