Impressive Cast Lined Up for Alexander Payne's Latest

Sadly, writer/director Alexander Payne hasn't directed a new feature film since Sideways in 2004, although he did direct a segment of Paris Je T'aime, but that doesn't count. Thankfully we might know what Payne is up to next. Over at Hollywood Elsehwere, Jeffrey Wells claims to have some solid casting details on Payne's latest project, currently titled Downsizing, which apparently isn't even done being written. However, he's saying that Sacha Baron Cohen, Paul Giamatti, Meryl Streep and Reese Witherspoon are all already on board, but not entirely confirmed, or at least until Payne finishes writing the script.
No word on what Downsizing is about yet (anyone thinking something business related?), but this is certainly an impressive and exciting cast. Payne last worked with Reese Witherspoon on Election and with Paul Giamatti on Sideways, but he hasn't yet worked with either Sacha Baron Cohen or Meryl Streep. I have no gripe with any of these actors and in fact actually like all of them quite a bit. As always, it depends on the role and how they fit the character, but I'm not worried with this, as I'm sure Payne's script is great. I'm also just excited to see Alexander Payne back in the director's chair again, since it's certainly been a while!

Sideways was excellent and far superior to our over-rated feel-good oscar movies of the last twelve months,I look forward to this project.

Sounds exciting, maybe they have to fight over their position. With a cast like that, it would certainly be entertaining.

Yes!!!!! Alexander Payne is back, I was beginning to miss him! I happened to thoroughly enjoy Election. Sideways took me about 3 viewings to really enjoy properly. But it was a excellent just ask Leo says.
Can't wait. I like this cast line up too. I see that he's re-casting Witherspoon and Giamatti here, looking forward to it!

Paul Giamatti looks rediculous with those sideburns…of the 60's

Election was genius and About Schmidt is subtle (it's so depressing and that's the point), Sideways wasn't as good as the hype. Still good, but I had a lot of problems with Giamatti's character. Not his characterization, though.
Forgot all about Payne, let's hope he crafted something good.
