So there's a lot we know about Knowing - like why Alex Proyas wanted to direct it and that it's about a sequence of numbers that have predicted every major disaster - but there are a few things we still don't know. Who are the whisperer people who show up randomly in the trailer? And what happens when the numbers run out? Well, this TV spot that debuted last week finally gives us a glimpse at the disaster that is going to engulf New York City, and probably the rest of the world, when those numbers run out. I won't say much more than that to prepare you, so just keep your eyes open because you won't want to miss it.

Knowing is directed by Alex Proyas of The Crow, Dark City, Garage Days, and I, Robot previously. The script was written by a collaboration of screenwriters including Ryne Douglas Pearson ("Simple Simon"), Juliet Snowden (The Need, Boogeyman), Stiles White (The Need, Boogeyman), and Stuart Hazeldine (upcoming Paradise Lost). Summit Entertainment is releasing Knowing in theaters on March 20th.

I just can't get over that damned last line of the trailer … "Are we gonna die?" "Iwill NEVER let that happen."
YES KID, you will die, but I am your dad, and you will not die for many year cause I am the bad ass Nic Cage and will kick these numbers' asses.
BLAH… very excited about the concept, terribly UNexcited about Cage's dialogue and presentation of it

If they're 'bad movies' then Cage isn't exactly ruining anything. Guy picks a few stinkers to star in and suddenly people forget he's a good actor. He IS a good actor. Do you people know how films get made at all? You're all bitching about his hair and his dialogue or his delivery, but nine times out of ten that crap is decided by the director. Scripts are written and the actors perform them. The actors take direction from the directors, whose job it is to make sure the film is coherent and 'good'. Scenes are not shot in order. A shot of cage saying "yes!" might be answering a question that was asked three weeks later at some other soundstage by another actor he's not even really looking at at the time.
@15: what the fuck would you say to your kid if he asked you if he was about to die? "yeah, son, Let's go dig some holes so we can commit suicide and get it over with. Mommy will fill the holes in tomorrow before she throws herself in front of a speeding train." Cage didn't WRITE that dialogue.
A good director can take any actor and make them look really fucking good. Proyas is a good director. Wicker Man proved that Neil LaBute is a poor director and an even worse writer. That was a bad movie. He's been in poor to mediocre films since, but it's not like he's never made a good movie before. Adaptation, Lord of War, Matchstick Men was highly watchable, Bringing out the Dea, 8-fucking-MM… So he needs a decent director. How shocking that bad directors always seem to helm bad movies.
I think this film looks neat, and I'll be seeing it in the theaters, but then I happen to like Cage and Proyas.
