Warner Brothers Finally Approves The 28th Amendment

The first script that Transformers writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman ever sold was one called The 28th Amendment. Strangely enough it has never seen the light of day, although that might now change thanks to German director Florian Henckel Von Donnersmarck. Warner Brothers has replaced the previously attached Neil Jordan with Von Donnersmarck, who is most well known for directing the Oscar winning film The Lives of Others. According to the Hollywood Reporter, The 28th Amendment, about conspiracy and intimidation in the White House, has elements reminiscent of those in The Lives of Others.
The 28th Amendment has been described as The Firm set in the White House; its premise is that for a good part of the 20th century, the president has been the puppet of a small, lethal gang that kills anyone who defies its wishes (JFK did and paid the price, according to one iteration of the script). Denzel Washington and Tom Cruise have been attached for a while, although neither of them are confirmed at this point, and it's likely new actors will come in with Von Donnersmarck on board. Kurtzman and Orci have been tweaking and changing the script for years now, hoping to get it just right. Let's hope this is finally its time.

not a big fan tom cruise, but still, i can't say he's a bad actor.
von donnersmarck, tho, became the key ingredient when he signed on.
