Official Trailer for Michael Chabon's Mysteries of Pittsburgh
March 10, 2009

After more than a year of waiting, Peace Arch has finally debuted the official trailer for The Mysteries of Pittsburgh. Yes, this is based on Michael Chabon's novel of the same name, and it first premiered at Sundance back in 2008. Although it got slammed by critics, I caught it at the tale end of the fest and actually really enjoyed it, probably more than I should have. It's a very unusual story but it's made up of great performances, specifically from lead Jon Foster and supporting actor Peter Sarsgaard. Oh and I guess I'll say if you like Sienna Miller you better watch this trailer as well - you'll know why once you watch this.
I gave this an 8 out of 10 at Sundance, saying: "It's got great actors, it's got great production values and cinematography, and it's got a great score, and when you combine all of that it can still be very enjoyable."

The film chronicles the defining summer of a recent college graduate (played by Jon Foster) who crosses his gangster father and explores love, sexuality, and the enigmas surrounding his life and his city.
The Mysteries of Pittsburgh is both written and directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, of Elfquest and Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story previously. The story is based on Michael Chabon's novel of the same name first published in 1988. This first premiered at the Sundance Film Festival back in 2008 and was eventually picked up by Peace Arch Entertainment for distribution. After more than a year of waiting, Peace Arch will finally bring The Mysteries of Pittsburgh to very limited theaters starting on March 27th.

I'll never support this film after what Sienna said about Pittsburgh. The city bent over backwards in support of this film and she trashed my city. Pittsburgh is finally starting to get film productions to come back to the city and she makes stupid remarks to tarnish it.

Wow, this looks great. I'm surprised it doesn't say "Zach Braff" anywhere in the credits. This sounds like and looks like something he'd be involved in, but perhaps this movie doesn't have enough of a gooey center for the likings of JD.

500 Days of Summer looks better, and I can only spend 10 dollars on so many basic but inspired romantic movies, ya know.

Looks pretty good. Love Chabon's stuff, Peter Sarsgaard's always at least watchable and Sienna Miller's hot (and once in a while can actually act).
With that said, I second what No. 7 said - how did we escape seeing Zach Braff in this one?

#6, you sound butthurt. I hear there is cream for that. But listen, just because one person doesn't like Pittsburgh doesn't mean you should boycott the movie. Sure I mean there are actors who only like certain areas of the world, and they say negative things about other people or places, but fuck it, you can't let one comment or a few comments bug you. Just let it go.

Finally, a movie that I can relate too. Being the son of an infamous mob godfather, I've always been somewhat shy around people. I recently finished college where I didn't experience anything resembling life, and moved home. Girls constantly throw themselves at me, but I'm dealing with the social/sexual issues that I might be gay, or atleast bi-sexual. I started dating this chick, and surprise, she's in another relationship… with a super sexy dude that I'm just magnetically attracted too. Boy, if I didn't write this, someone must have been in my head!

Actually I was quite impressed with the trailer, but Sienna will never have my support. Dang! Isn't she in GI Joe too? Oh well.
