Must Watch: Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell Trailer!
March 11, 2009
Source: Yahoo
by Alex Billington
Sam Raimi, director of Evil Dead and Army of Darkness, is back with another throwback to old school horror. Drag Me to Hell stars Alison Lohman and Justin Long in a creepy and twisted horror adventure like no other. Universal has debuted the first trailer and it is quite incredible. I've seen Drag Me to Hell before and they've done the best job they could summing it up in a trailer. There are some awesome fights in it and that seance scene that you get a glimpse of is pretty frickin' awesome. I won't say more than that, but this trailer should do a perfect job of reminding Raimi fans why they love him in the first place!

A loan officer (Alison Lohman) ordered to evict an old woman (Lorna Raver) from her home finds herself the recipient of a supernatural curse, which turns her life into a living hell. Desperate, she turns to a seer to try and save her soul, while evil forces work to push her and her boyfriend to a breaking point.
Drag Me to Hell is co-written and directed by Sam Raimi, of everything from Evil Dead to Army of Darkness to Darkman to all three Spider-Man movies. The script was written by Sam and his brother Ivan Raimi, who has helped him before on the scripts for Darkman, Army of Darkness, and Spider-Man 3. Universal will be bringing Raimi's Drag Me to Hell in theaters everywhere on May 29th this summer.

Nice. Gypsy curses, it's dark that thing about passing it on too, like in the Ring too.
I reckon she deserved it though and probably unloads it on her boyfriend at the end in the same way she fucked over the old woman to get a promotion.

What's it rated? I'm tired of all these weak ass PG-13 "horror" movies.

Not my type of movie at all but the trailer did a nice job starting slow and capping it off with some excitement.

Lame. The return of true horror? I doubt that. This looks on par with those awful Unborn and Uninvited flicks that came out a few months ago. If I see this it won't be in its opening weekend - this will definitely be PG-13 and that means theaters full of kids.

A true Sam Raimi fan and Evil Dead…but this is quite unimpressive.
Might be fun, though.

Racist against gypsies? Gypsies don't have homes, thus this old lady can't be a gypsy.

Looks ok. I'll see it if there's nothing better to do. "Jumpy" horror is dead to me, no pun intended. It's gore or bust pretty much now.

Wasn't Cloverdale supposed to be true horror as well?
But, then again, Six String Samurai was supposed to re-invent film according to AICN years ago…

Am I the only one getting a kind of Beauty and the Beast vibe from this? I know there were no demons fairy tale/movie, but the 'help me or pay' thing is contrived.

Can't wait!I've seen the full clip in the carparking lot and its absolutely brilliant - Sam manages to perfectly balance the horror and the comedy.. it really does feel like the guy who made Army of Darkness. Bring it on.

F**k Yes. It's great to see Raimi back doing horror. Spider-man 3 really sucked. I just hope with him doing something different that maybe he will have a better vision for Spidey 4 & 5.

Last I heard, it's rated R, and there is all the over the top gore you would expect from a Sam Raimi horror film
Bo on Mar 11, 2009
47
WOW! Totally refreshing take on a horror film. Doesn't it just FEEL like a different kind of film, especially considering its from as classically trained as Raimi?
I'm not even a horror film fan and that looks wild!
Nick Sears on Mar 11, 2009

I love his work every since I saw Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness, but this movie better be R. I really don't consider it really that scary unless a movie gets that rating. However, it is Rami we are talking about here so there is always room for an exception.
Stephen on Mar 11, 2009

SO LAME!!! LOL.. All this because she got denied for an extention? wow, hollywood is really losing it when it comes to horror movies.

Throw the dirty old bitch out on her ass and move on. She curses you, you run over the box she's living in while she's asleep. Make yourself throw-up to remove the demon fly from your belly and the movie is over…but not before showing a little scared T&A.
This is another piece of crap with some one-eyed old skank who can't pay the bills and is supposed to be threatening and scary. The only things scaring me are the a-holes who are going to spend money to see this in any form.

I agree with comments 27 and 49. All that power and she couldn't compel the powers of darkness to help her not default on three house payments. All that ire she summoned could have been used to power a small town. The premise ruined it for me.
