Last House's Dennis Iliadis Helming Cure Thriller Next
March 13, 2009
by Alex Billington
I finally caught a screening of the new Last House on the Left remake this week, and more than anything enjoyed the style that Greek director Dennis Iliadis brought to it. That visual style is certainly his strength as a director, but the question is will it actually work well if the story isn't up to par. Iliadis (seen above) has signed on to direct a thriller called Cure. The story is about a man who sends his wife for an experimental treatment to save her from a terminal illness. Although she returns completely cured, she is suddenly infected with something "more terrifying." The script was written by Beau Thorne of only Max Payne.
What I'm trying to say is that the story in Cure sounds a bit lackluster. This isn't the first time I've made a comparison to Jessica Alba's The Eye this week, and that's because these stories not only all sound the same, but also because that was such a terrible movie. At the same time, I actually like Dennis Iliadis, I think he's got some talent as a director, and I'd like to see him continue to grow. I just hope Cure is something more than what I'm making it out to be. Groundswell Productions is aiming to start shooting Cure with Iliadis this summer. Stay tuned for casting, as I expect they'll announce a full boat of actors in the next few months.

That Cure sounds a lot like Cronenberg's Rabid. And BTW, it was Rabid that first introduced fast running zombies/infected, not 28 Days Later.

Illiadis, is not a tallented director, i saw his first movie " hardcore" back in greece, it had a very videoclip style and the plot collapsed after 40 minutes, and getting to direct anything from the guy who wrote max payne isn't a good idea. Hope he proves me wrong though, always good to have a greek director out there for all greeks

Illiadis is certainly talented and surely successful. Hardcore was his first feature and yes it had its flaws, but he totally stood out…maybe a bit too much
Anywayz, hardcore got him the last house which was awesome! A very promising director, i bet he'll do a great movie!! Can't wait to watch it!!
