Wait A Minute - Michael Bay Says Not So Fast Paramount!

Woops. Someone at Paramount heard wrong. Yesterday we ran the news that Transformers 3 had been scheduled for a July 1st, 2011 release date, alongside a number of other exciting movies. But apparently Paramount jumped the gun. Michael Bay posted the following on his own official forums: "I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 - they asked me on the phone - I said yes to July 4 - but for 2012 - whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots." Will it be rescheduled?
I'm a bit amazed that such a huge mistake was made and that Paramount even announced the wrong date. Well, it falls in line with the exact pattern that Bay followed for the first two, so it could make sense that they'd push for the same two year schedule for the third sequel. Additionally, this is the first time Bay has ever followed through with a complete trilogy. He's only ever actually made one sequel - Bad Boys II - but this will be the first time he continues on. It's obvious that this is a passion project for him and that he was indeed born to direct Transformers. He just needs a break, too! So will they push it back to 2012?

I don't blame him, he'd be so burnt out by then, it wouldn't be fair. I just hope Bay talks in third person.

It is not convenient to fire Bay! That is just preposterous. On the contrary, Paramount needs Bay for this franchise for countless reasons!! I'm sure we'll read very soon that Paramount has rescheduled the 3rd "Transformers" flick.

All of the stuff I read today in regards to the 3rd movie never said him or the two main actors were signed on for the project. Let's just hope they give him the break he needs, so the movie doesn't get a horrible review.

Bay is the man for the job (with Spielberg to help him).
Sometimes you need a director who is still basically a kid who likes cool stuff blowing up in cool ways, and Bay is the man for this..
until James Cameron gets $400 million to make the best robot action movie in the entire universe in 3d and does something with Transformers or Gundam.
Actually, i'd donate some cash to that cause!! lol

Yeah right. Transformers is Transformers is Transformers. It's based on a…no, THE series of toys.
"So little boys like cars, right?"
"…We're listening."
"What's cooler than cars?"

"Robots! So what if we have a car that turns into a robot!"
"…"
"We'll make millions!"
"…You're a genius!"
And that's basically it. Add a story about teams battling each other for 'honor' and 'courage' and you're set for cross promotion.
A director with the talent to make Transformers 'more than a toy fest' would be wasting their time on a property like 'Transformers', not to mention selling away all of their integrity in a second. But as Alex says, Bay was 'born to direct 'Transformers”.
