Taye Diggs Joins Dead of Night as the Lead Vampire

Former Broadway singer Taye Diggs doesn't appear on the big screen that often. He was in Rent most recently, and Basic, Chicago and Equilibrium before that. However, ShockTillYouDrop has learned that Diggs has joined the cast of Dead of Night, the live-action movie based on the Dylan Dog comics that Kevin Munroe is directing. Apparently Diggs will play the leader of the vampires, the primary villain in the movie, which not only features plenty of vampires, but zombies and werewolves as well. We already know that Brandon Routh is playing the lead role as Dylan Dog and starring as his sidekick is Sam Huntington.
The make-up effects for Diggs' vampire look, as well as Huntington who is also undead, are being handled by Drac Studios, who has worked on Trailer Park of Terror, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Watchmen previously. Dylan Dog is an Italian comic that was brought to the US via Dark Horse. The comic is about the character Dylan, a penniless nightmare investigator who defies the whole preceding horror tradition with a vein of surrealism and an anti-bourgeois rhetoric. It's been described as "an early, slacker P.I. version of the X-Files." Shooting on Dead of Night starts later this year. Stay tuned for more!

I'd be willing to go with this. I'd buy him as a vampire. He sort of has that air about him.

When will they stop making vampire movies?! Every idea has already been done and re-done to the point of redundancy. We know what happens when a vampire wants out or is half human half vampire. Use something that isn't as cliche as vampires. 30 days of night was the first vampire movie made in awhile that was refreshing.
