Gemma Arterton Cast in Louis Leterrier's Clash of the Titans

British hottie Gemma Arterton, who we last saw in Quantum of Solace as Mrs. Fields, has been cast in Louis Leterrier's upcoming remake of Clash of the Titans. This is the second very high profile project that Arterton has joined, the other being Disney's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which has already finished shooting. This casting news comes from SlashFilm, who says that Arterton revealed during the Empire Awards that she had joined the project (it was also confirmed by the Sydney Morning Herald). As previously announced, Terminator Salvation star Sam Worthington will play the lead Perseus.
Arterton will apparently play the character of Io, a priestess of Hera who was seduced by Zeus and changed into a cow to escape detection. I don't think that's the exact character that she'll be playing, because she said in a separate interview about Sam Worthington, "I hope he's nice because we have to fall in love." The character of Io wasn't even in the original 1981 Clash of the Titans, which is a bit odd. Judi Bowker played Princess Andromeda, who was Perseus' original love interest in that film. Unless we hear otherwise, it looks like Gemma Arterton will be the primary love interest in both Prince of Persia and Clash of the Titans.
Update: Empire added a few new quotes from Arterton, but nothing too exciting. "The script is very different," she said about this updated version. "Obviously the story is the story, but it's much more about Perseus' mission, and how he deals with being the son of Zeus, and things like that, so it feels a little more about him, and about the issues around that." Hopefully it's not too much of a departure from the original.

One of the few films that I think needs a reboot and I really like the original.

This is one reboot that will improve significantly from the original. Especially with the F/X. It'd be nice if Harry Hamlin was given a role too. I am so excited to see Gemma Arterton in this!

I don't think Worthington is the sword and sandal type. I suspect he's going to end up looking very very silly.

A guy with the name of Mickey sounds pretty silly/flamboyant too.

She's so friggin sexy! And that voice! Although it was a small part, I liked her in Bond. Can't wait to see her a bigger role. A very good young actress.
