Justin Long and Drew Barrymore Join Going the Distance
March 30, 2009
by Alex Billington
New Line's upcoming romantic comedy Going the Distance has finally cast its two leads. Justin Long and Drew Barrymore have officially signed on to play opposite of each other. Although I don't follow celebrity gossip, this is a bit interesting considering the two were dating and supposedly broke up recently in real life. Written by Geoff LaTulippe and to be directed by Nanette Burstein, Going the Distance is a comedy about a young couple navigating their way through the perils of a long distance relationship who quickly discover that "going the distance" might cost them everything they have, including one another.
We've been following this project closely because one of our favorite directors from last year, Nanette Burstein of the documentary American Teen, is set to make this her fictional directorial debut. I like Justin Long and I actually think he was one of the best parts of the rom-com He's Just Not That Into You (yes, I did see it), but as for Drew Barrymore, she hasn't been that impressive recently. I'm not sure I completely like these two playing off of each other, but maybe they'll tweak the script to fit their personalities. Either way, I'll still be following this project closely, because I do still have very high hopes for it. Thoughts?

No shocker considering it wouldn't be easy for Berrymore to work in Hollywood if sexual relationships had anything to do with accepting and getting roles + projects.

This could work.
Not going to think much of it either way until I at least see a trailer
