Adrienne Shelly's The Morgan Stories Script to be Produced

Adrienne Shelly in Waitress

Writer and director Adrienne Shelly, who has tragically killed in 2006, is set to have one of her last remaining screenplays finally produced. The project, The Morgan Stories, is a multigenerational family drama that revolves around three sisters and follows them over the course of several decades. Shelly's widower Andy Ostroy, who launched All for A Films to maintain and further his wife's legacy, said he believed it to be Shelly's best script. Shelly's last film, Waitress, debuted in 2007, while Cheryl Hines is directing Serious Moonlight, based off of one of Shelly's other screenplays that she had finished.

Last New Poster for Crank 2: High Voltage

Last New Poster for Crank 2: High Voltage

Yesterday afternoon, Lionsgate debuted this final poster for Crank: High Voltage via their Twitter. It's quite an eye-catching design, and I actually saw it while driving on Sunset Blvd., so I know for certain that the yellow easily attracts attention. At this point I just can't wait to see Crank: High Voltage, because we've seen enough trailers and footage that there's nothing else left than to see the movie itself. And I'm glad Lionsgate is doing one hell of a marketing push with these posters and other media, because I love see to Crank get out there, as it has some crazy potential. Anyway, check this out and see you on April 17th!

The cast of John Wells' The Company Men has gained a few more big names. Kevin Costner and Tommy Lee Jones will star alongside of Ben Affleck in the drama about the impact that corporate downsizing has on both its casualties and survivors. Long-time producer John Wells wrote the script and will make his directorial debut. Affleck plays a corporate hotshot whose Porsche and salary vanish after he gets laid off. Costner plays his brother-in-law, a drywall installer who gives him a construction job. Jones plays a senior partner in the firm, a principled man who struggles with the greedy actions of his partners.

50 Cent Replaces Forest Whitaker in The Expendables?!

50 Cent Replaces Forest Whitaker in The Expendables?!

Please tell me it's not true! Ain't It Cool News is reporting that Forest Whitaker has dropped out of Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables due to a scheduling conflict. So who has Sly found to replace him? None other than Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent. Are you kidding me?! Anyone who has seen Get Rich or Die Tryin' or Home of the Brave or Righteous Kill knows that 50 Cent is probably the worst actor ever! No one should ever cast him, and no one should ever put him in their movie, not ever, no matter the circumstances. I really don't know how Sly could think 50 Cent is an acceptable replacement for an Oscar winner?!

Bong Joon-ho Talks About His Sci-Fi Project Transperceneige

Bong Joon-ho Talks About His Sci-Fi Project Transperceneige

Although I've only ever seen one of Korean director Bong Joon-ho's films, I'm interested in his work, as I think he's quite a talented filmmaker. He did direct one of the three segments in Tokyo, but we haven't otherwise seen anything from him since The Host arrived in 2006. Our friends at Collider got a chance to talk with Bong Joon-ho recently and got an update on his currently in-production film titled Mother as well as another project he has in the works. Bong Joon-ho said that he's adapting a French sci-fi novel called Transperceneige about the "dystopia vision regarding the future of humanity and human nature."

Watch This Now: Crazy What's in the Box? Short Film!

What's in the Box?

Soon the world will find out... Holy f**k! My good friend Pete of SlashFilm called me up this morning and told me about an awesome video he had found called What's in the Box?. He pointed me to its YouTube page where I watched the full 8 minute short film and it's pretty badass. However, we're not exactly sure what this is yet - another viral marketing game, an animation demo reel, or just a short film? Either way, before we get into any deeper discussion, you need to watch this. I've added the high quality YouTube embed below, though the info says it "will be deleted soon." So hurry up and watch this before it gets deleted!

Exclusive: Poster for John Crowley's Is Anybody There?

Exclusive: Poster for John Crowley's Is Anybody There?

We were just sent over the official poster for John Crowley's charming new film, Is Anybody There?, starring Michael Caine and Bill Milner. We debuted the official trailer for the film a few weeks ago, and I suggest everyone watch that trailer if you haven't already. Caine stars as an aging magician who moves into an old person's home and befriends Edward, a lonely young boy who has grown up in these types of place. I haven't seen it yet, but it looks like a wonderful tale about life and friendship and I can't wait to check it out. As for this poster, compliments on designing such a good looking poster without using any floating heads.

Must Watch: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Trailer

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Trailer

Sony Pictures has debuted the first full trailer for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, their newest animated movie and follow-up to Surf's Up from a few years ago. This is based on a children's book of the same name and is about Flint Lockwood, an inventor, who tries to solve the world hunger problem and invents the ability to turn water into food, causing it to rain food all day long. Although the plot is different, one could make a comparison to Disney's Meet the Robinsons, but I think this looks better. I'm not sure why, but it just looks entertaining, and I love a good animated movie as much as the next person.

Brad Pitt and Natalie Portman to Star in Important Artifacts

Brad Pitt and Natalie Portman to Star in Important Artifacts

Before Marvel confirms any cast for Thor, we've got to get some other news out of the way first. Paramount has attached both Brad Pitt and Natalie Portman to star in a film based on the new Leanne Shapton book "Important Artifacts and Personal Property from the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris." If you couldn't already tell from that title, the book reads like an estate auction catalog, with 325 entries depicting items that reveal the private moments and the rise and fall of a four-year relationship between Hal Morris (a 40ish photographer) and Lenore Doolan, (a New York Times food columnist in her late 20s).

Fascinating Q&A with Watchmen Writers David Hayter and Alex Tse

Watchmen Screenwriters David Hayter and Alex Tse

Whether you liked Zack Snyder's Watchmen or not, it's a miracle that it ever made it to the big screen. And before Zack Snyder was ever attached as a director, it was screenwriter David Hayter (yes, the voice of Solid Snake) who was helping guide it through the depths of Hollywood along with producer Lloyd Levin. While listening to the /Filmcast live last night, Dave Chen mentioned a podcast that Creative Screenwriting had released featuring a fascinating Q&A with Watchmen co-writers David Hayter and Alex Tse. The short clip he played had already sold me, but I just finished listening to it and it's incredible, so I have to feature it.

Two Hilarious New Observe and Report Posters Hit Hard

Two Hilarious New Observe and Report Posters Hit Hard

Warner Brothers' edgy new comedy Observe and Report, starring Seth Rogen, just debuted a few days ago at SXSW in Austin. In preperation for its upcoming release in early April, WB has started an extensive nationwide marketing push, focusing on Rogen as a hero "the world needs right now." These two new posters have popped up and can be seen in bus shelter displays nationwide. They're not much of a change from the original poster, but because they work together as a pair and, as you'll see, tell a bit of a funny story, I just had to post them. And if you're looking for some early buzz on this, head over to SlashFilm.

Ellen DeGeneres Coming Back to Theaters as Mother Nature!

Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres as Mother Nature? This sounds about as crazy as Jim Carrey playing God! Are we sure this isn't another sequel to Bruce Almighty? Walden Media, who used to develop the Chronicles of Narnia films, has signed DeGeneres as Mother Nature in a currently untitled comedy that they are producing. There is no real explanation behind her appearance, except this corny tidbit. The say the idea comes from within Walden and DeGeneres "will return to Earth for the first time since the planet's creation." DeGeneres was last seen on the big screen (being heard in Finding Nemo doesn't count) in Edtv way back in 1999.
