Must Watch: Trailer for James Toback's Tyson Documentary

Tyson Documentary Trailer

You've heard the about this for a while, now finally see the trailer. Sony Pictures Classics has debuted the trailer for James Toback's Tyson, the documentary about boxing champ Mike Tyson. I caught this at Sundance and although I didn't love it (I gave it only 5 out of 10), it has some redeeming values, specifically the archival footage of all the fights and just hearing Tyson speak for himself. Other highlights, which are mentioned in this trailer, include his love for his trainer Cus D'Amato and his hatred for the one and only Don King. Even though its been getting mixed reviews, give this doc a fighting chance, you might like it.

Pixar's Adventures with Carl and Russell - First Aid

Pixar's Adventures with Carl and Russell - First Aid

As part of on-going promotion for Up, Pixar has debuted the second video in the Adventures with Carl and Russell series (now called UPisodes). The first video, Animal Calls, can be seen here. These videos are content created purely for promotional purposes and are not scenes from the movie itself. This episode today shows us what happens when Carl gets a scratch and Russell comes to the rescue with his Wilderness Explorers first aid kit. These videos are pretty fun to watch and show us more of the character dynamic between Carl and Russell. I just hope they actually help convert a few people into big supporters of Up.

Might Jon Favreau Actually Get to Direct The Avengers?

Jon Favreau

This could actually be a dream come true. It all began back in January of 2008, when we ran a story about Jon Favreau saying he'd love to direct an Avengers movie. Since that story first hit, Favreau has mentioned his interest numerous times, and not only did Marvel actually announce The Avengers, but Iron Man went on to become a huge box office hit and success for everyone involved. We learned earlier this week that Marvel decided to push back The Avengers release date an entire year to May 4th, 2012. We obviously don't know the real reason, but Ain't It Cool News has a spy who claims to have the answers.

Kevin Smith Responds to A Couple of Dicks Criticism

Kevin Smith

Apparently when it was first reported last week that Kevin Smith was hired by Warner Brothers to direct a comedy called A Couple of Dicks, a few people were saying that he had finally sold out and decided to make something that wasn't his own for a boat load of cash. Well guess what, that's not the case, sorry to burst your bubble. Smith did an interview with Lee Stranahan on YouTube (via SlashFilm) and answered some questions about the project. "The budget of the movie is NOT huge," Smith said. "It meant a lot of us had to give up a bunch of our salary to make this movie, that’s how passionate we are about the flick."

Last House's Dennis Iliadis Helming Cure Thriller Next

Dennis Iliadis

I finally caught a screening of the new Last House on the Left remake this week, and more than anything enjoyed the style that Greek director Dennis Iliadis brought to it. That visual style is certainly his strength as a director, but the question is will it actually work well if the story isn't up to par. Iliadis (seen above) has signed on to direct a thriller called Cure. The story is about a man who sends his wife for an experimental treatment to save her from a terminal illness. Although she returns completely cured, she is suddenly infected with something "more terrifying." The script was written by Beau Thorne of only Max Payne.

First Look: Gary Oldman in Hughes Brother's Book of Eli

First Look: Gary Oldman in Hughes Brother's Book of Eli

Just yesterday we wrote another article about Tom Waits, and a handful of others, joining the cast of the Hughes Brother's The Book of Eli. We know a lot about it and who's in it, but we don't really know what it looks like, until now. We've already seen a photo of Denzel Washington as the lead character Eli, but another actor who appears in the movie is Gary Oldman. He plays a character named Carnegie, who is the despot of a small makeshift town that's determined to take possession of the book Eli's guarding. Thanks to a this blog, we've got some new photos, including a few of Gary Oldman, that can be seen below.

Don't Watch: Official Trailer for Horror Feature Orphan

Orphan Trailer

Warner Brothers has debuted the trailer for their newest horror movie called Orphan. How did this get made? It looks as bland and unoriginal as every other horror movie we've seen in the last few years and I really doubt it's going to be any different. I've actually seen this trailer a few times before, because Warners kept showing it at the various Comic-Con's I went to, because they somehow thought that audiences would want to see a trailer for a really bad horror movie after being pumped up for Terminator and Watchmen. I don't think so... If you like horror, take a look, otherwise I strong suggest you skip this trailer entirely.

First Real Photos from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

First Real Photos from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Disney has just published their first issue of the Disney 23 magazine this week. D23 is a Disney fan club that launched earlier this week and as part of a membership, you get a subscription to their quarterly magazine filled with photography and articles on all-things Disney. Featured in this first issue is an article on Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland, which is currently in-production aiming for a March 5th, 2010 release. Although we've seen some on-set photos, we still haven't seen any official art from Alice in Wonderland, which means this is our very first glimpse at what this live-action feature will look like.

Holy Sh*t, Warner Brothers is Remaking Stephen King's It!

Stephen King's It

Inspired by the success of the Friday the 13th reboot, Warner Brothers has decided to remake Stephen King's It for the big screen. The 1990 version of It (that was actually made for TV) has often been referred to as one of the scariest movie of all-time. Lin Pictures and Vertigo Entertainment are developing this new version as a fresh adaptation from Stephen King's original novel. Dave Kajganich, of The Invasion and Creek as well as the upcoming Pet Sematary remake, will write the script. These rights have been floating around Hollywood for a while, but it was Warner Brothers who decided to finally give it another chance.

Hey Ladies, Check Out the Coco Avant Chanel Trailer!

Hey Ladies, Check Out the Coco Avant Chanel Trailer!

Thanks to both Cinematical and PopWatch, we've got the first French-language trailer for Audrey Tautou's Coco Avant Chanel. Much like Sex and the City, I already know that this film isn't for guys in the least. Not only is it a luscious French period piece, but it's a biopic about fashion icon Coco Chanel. Unless you really appreciate fashion or love period pieces or speak French, then I suggest you stop here, because I know you probably won't enjoy this at all. But I will admit, although I didn't understand a second of what was being said, I actually really want to see this. Maybe I'll catch it when I'm in France for the Cannes?

Tom Waits To Appear in Hughes Brother's The Book of Eli

Tom Waits

We've been neglecting all the recent casting news for The Book of Eli, primarily because we already know who the important actors are and thus don't really need to write up every little announcement for the supporting cast. However, this is one that is worth mentioning, in addition to recapping all the other recent additions. Anti (via The Playlist) is reporting that musician Tom Waits has a small role as the "Engineer" in The Book of Eli. We already know that Denzel Washington is on-board as the lead and is joined by Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis, but there's a handful of other great actors that I haven't mentioned yet either.

Sexy New Photos from Britain's Lesbian Vampire Killers

Sexy New Photos from Britain's Lesbian Vampire Killers

Thanks to our reader Christopher M, we've got seven new sexy photos from the indie comedy Lesbian Vampire Killers that I just can't help but share with all of you. This film is actually getting its official US premiere at SXSW next week (on Monday March 16th), but unfortunately I won't be there. I would love to see it, I just can't make it down to Austin. For those of you, like me, who won't be able to see it until it eventually gets a US distributor, we can both weep softly while enjoying these new photos. If you haven't seen the trailer for Lesbian Vampire Killers yet, please watch it! And check out these new photos.
