Short Korean Teaser Video for Bong Joon-ho's Mother
Earlier this week, in our update on The Host director Bong Joon-ho's upcoming sci-fi project, I mentioned that he had another film in the works titled just Mother. Thanks to both SlashFilm and Wildgrounds, we've got a very short teaser video today that gives us our first glimpse at Bong Joon-ho's latest work. In Mother, an asocial loser is framed as the perpetrator of a horrific murder and his hard-headed mother has to figure out who really did it to keep her son from going to prison. This is expected to premiere at Cannes in May this year. Apologies for the lack of English subtitles, but it should be worth a quick look anyway.

Ridley Scott Says Cameron Inspired Him to Make Forever War in 3D
While we know that Ridley Scott is gearing up to start shooting Robin Hood soon, we can't forget that after he finishes work on that, he'll most likely move onto an adaptation of Joe Haldeman's The Forever War. We first announced that this was one of two sci-fi projects that Scott had in the works (the other being Brave New World) late last year, and considering he's been working hard to get Robin Hood finally moved into production, we haven't heard much on either of the projects since then. However, Wharf.co.uk (via SlashFilm) finally has an update from Ridley Scott himself, and it's a fairly exciting one this early out.

First Look: Nic Cage and Jay Baruchel in Sorcerer's Apprentice
Even though Knowing made a respectable $25 million at the box office this past weekend, I don't think Nic Cage's career is back on the right track. Some new photos of Cage in Disney's The Sorcerer's Apprentice, the live-action retelling of the classic Mickey Mouse story from Fantasia, have popped up tonight on the celeb gossip site Just Jared. I would say, don't be so quick to judge these and Cage's new hairdo and leather outfit, but I'm sure you've already made up your mind. I don't know if these will help Cage any more, or potentially ruin him entirely again, but honestly, I'm still looking forward to The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Summit Picks Up Marc Haimes' Elevator Men Vampire Script
I always love great concepts. And this is one that sounds pretty damn cool. Summit is finalizing negotiations to acquire former DreamWorks exec Marc Haimes' original screenplay Elevator Men. The dark thriller, which likely will change titles, takes a less romanticized look at the human-vampire interactions depicted in such recent movies and series as Twilight and HBO's "True Blood." "This is the dark, sinister version of what really happens when you decide you're going to get close to really bad things." The creatures play diabolical mind games with people, including one that involves an elevator, hence the title.

William Monahan Writing and Directing The Essex
Now this is how you make the most of your career if you win an Oscar. William Monahan, who won the Academy Award for The Departed screenplay in 2007, has been not only attaching himself to every last high profile screenwriting gig over the last few years, but he's making his directorial debut with London Boulevard this fall. But before he's even started directing his first film, he's already lined up more directing gigs to follow. In addition to The Art of the Heist, Monahan will write and direct The Essex, a historical drama about Capt. David S. Porter and his daring sea battles against the British during the War of 1812.

First Look: Neil Marshall's Centurion On-Set Featurette
Before we get a trailer, before we even get a poster, our first look at any footage from Neil Marshall's Centurion comes in the form of an on-set featurette shot by the folks at Rotten Tomatoes. Everyone should remember seeing that photo of Olga Kurylenko wearing blue eye shadow a few weeks ago. That was the very first look at anything from Centurion, even though Olga is only one of a few actors who star in the film, which also includes Michael Fassbender, Dominic West, Noel Clarke, and David Morrisey. We don't get to see too much (no action unfortunately), but this video does give us a quick glimpse of what it'll look like.

Paramount Extends First Look with J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot
Paramount Pictures today announced an extension of its agreement with J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions to run through 2013. This continues the first-look relationship originally started with Abrams and long-time colleague, producer Bryan Burk, in July of 2006. "Today's announcement is meaningful to me in many ways," said Brad Grey, Chairman and CEO, Paramount Pictures Corporation. "Bad Robot was one of the first deals we made to help rebuild the studio. J.J. has since become part of the fabric of Paramount and we look forward to continuing our fruitful creative collaboration for many years to come."

Christopher Campbell's The Moviegoer - 3D vs. The Hype of 3D
Has your nearest cinema installed a digital 3D screen yet? If you immediately answered "no," check again, because this is a big week for upgrading. The closest movie theater to my home is an old family-owned cinema, and I never would have expected them to be able to afford digital projection, let alone the 3D add-on. But apparently it will be showing Monsters vs. Aliens beginning this Friday with their "New 3D presentation!" Nevermind that this particular cinema is long overdue to improve more general film presentation problems, including a failing sound system, faulty lights and an awkward seating layout.

Check This Out: Brand New Star Trek UK Poster
Yesterday, our friends at SlashFilm uncovered a handful of international posters for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, which we determined were fakes. They just looked like they were Photoshopped creations based on all of the early Trek posters we've seen and didn't look that great. Well it turns out some, or most of them, were actually real, even after we played them off as fan creations. I'm only going to feature this one below, because it comes from Empire and looks like the best out of all of them. But really, this should be an indication to Paramount that these posters aren't that great, at all. I'm glad these aren't US posters.

Six Fresh New Harry Potter 6 Character Posters
It seems as if the stare-down is the new "in thing" on posters. They used it on those Star Trek posters, and now they've got Dumbledore staring you down, too. Warner Brothers has debuted a batch of new characters posters for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince on MSN today, so check all of them out below. At this point, it's just a matter of waiting five more months to finally see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which was pushed back to the summer from November last year. Seeing these new posters is actually making me excited for the summer movie season again, lots of good new movies to see this year!

Interview: Sin Nombre Writer and Director Cary Fukunaga
With no feature films under his belt, I wasn't sure what to expect when I scheduled an interview with newcomer Cary Fukunaga. But after seeing the writer/director's debut film, Sin Nombre, I knew I'd be talking to one of the industry's next great artists. When I entered the empty bar at the Ritz in Georgetown, Fukunaga was on the phone explaining the difficulty of translating the title of his feature film into English. While "sin nombre" does actually mean "without name" or "nameless," you can't exactly re-title the film without losing some of the intrinsic cultural nuance of the phrase. And this was only the beginning...

Trailer Debut for Ang Lee's Taking Woodstock
After tackling martial arts, big green superheroes, gay cowboys, and WWII spies, Ang Lee decided to tackle hippies and Woodstock next. The first trailer for Taking Woodstock debuted earlier tonight on "Important Things with Demetri Martin" and thanks to SlashFilm, we've got it for your viewing pleasure below. Based on a true story, Taking Woodstock stars Demetri Martin as Elliot Tiber, a boy working at his parents' motel in the Catskills who agrees to host Woodstock in their backyard and inadvertently sets into motion the generation-defining concert in the summer of 1969. Check this out, as it looks quite fun.
